Had a fabulous break at Old Stables, lovely house very well equipped surrounded by beautiful countryside. Lovely walks from the house either high or lower level. Would recommend that you stock up on supplies before you go as it’s 15 mins drive to nearest grocery store from the house. Very good Co-Op in Kirby Stephen.

Definitely recommend- quite idyllic!

Just a footnote: the two single beds are small and only suitable for children - other beds very comfortable.

Hi Annie, thank you for taking the time to leave some feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to relax and recharge the batteries isn't it? The owner has looked in to your comments in regards to the beds, and has confirmed that they are 6ft 2" long and 3ft wide, which is the standard adult size beds. We haven't had adults having problems sleeping on them before, so am sorry that you didn't find them suitable for your stay. I hope you enjoyed some great walks. Until next time!

The Old Stables is a comfortable, extremely well equipped cottage in a lovely rural location. The cottage was spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds, a pleasant back garden and lots of books and DVD’s. There are plenty of low and high level walks without needing to use a car.
The Black Bull at Nateby, a couple of miles on the road to Nateby, serves excellent food and their Sunday lunch is superb.
We spent a day at Bolton Castle. A 45 minute drive through stunning countryside. It’s a great castle to explore and there are falconry and archery displays, a maze and wild boar feeding. Dogs are not allowed and the £3 car park fee is cash only.
It was our first holiday in this part of the country. We will definitely return to the Old Stables as it’s an ideal base to get to know the area
