Old School House (Ravenglass) is a stunningly renovated period property overlooking the picturesque Ravenglass estuary. The house has been lovingly converted from a former schoolhouse and bank into a delightful holiday property for four. With quirky design features, innovative lighting, sumptuous furnishings, high spec appliances and a practiced eye for interior decor it really is a gorgeous place to spend a Lake District holiday.
Guests arrive at the front of the property into the traditional hallway. To the left of the hall is the stunning double height kitchen and dining room. This gorgeous space has a modern multi-fuel stove, glass doors to the garden at the back and a wall mounted television with Freeview. The modern kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with fitted fan oven, eye height combi/microwave oven, induction hobs and dishwasher. Guests will also find all the crockery, cookware and glassware they will need for their stay. There's a stylish island unit which serves as a breakfast bar and for sociable food preparation. The dining space here really is something special with a bespoke dining table made from a gargantuan piece of Honister green slate.
Back across the hallway to the cosy and elegant living room. Using a practiced eye for interior decor, sumptuous textiles and comfortable furniture, the owners have made this a lovely room to curl up around the open fireplace with a good book or catch a film on the large television.
There's a doorway from here which leads through to the back of the house where there is a large utility area with washing machine and boot room with bags of space for all your coats and sandy wellies. You can get through to the back garden here as well. The last room off the main hallway is the fabulous downstairs shower room with modern mixer shower and drencher head.
Moving up to the first floor guests will find the two beautiful bedrooms. Firstly there's the master double room which has a traditional dormer window looking out over the estuary which benefits from some glorious sunsets. There's also another more cosy room with a 3/4 double bed looking out to the back of the house. The family bathroom on this floor is an absolute treat with its beautiful slipper bath with shower attachment, bespoke copper radiator and specially adapted Victorian washstand incorporating a sink made from a gigantic jam pan! It's a wonderful room where you can soak away any aching muscles from your outdoor adventures while spotting delightful decorative details all around you.
Outside to the rear of the house there is plenty of space for outdoor dining either on the courtyard which opens out from the kitchen or on the raised lawn. Why not enjoy a sunny morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine savouring the peace and tranquility of this lovely village?
