Oaks Apartment is located on a working farm so livestock and associated farm machinery will be present.General Description
Oaks Apartment is nestled at the back of the 18th century farmhouse at Keskadale in the upper reaches of Newlands Valley. The farm is named for Keskadale Beck which passes the farm on its way down into the valley from the slopes of Robinson and is still a working family farm. The views from Keskadale are truly stunning and cosy Oaks Apartment has plenty of windows from which to enjoy them.
From the parking in the yard a path leads you through a trellis arch and up through the garden to a bridge across to the front door of Oaks Apartment which is on the same level as the first floor of the farmhouse. The door leads into a spacious hallway with room to hang coats and leave muddy boots after invigorating days out. On the wall opposite the door is a photo over Keswick by night, the lights give a different perspective of a familiar scene.
The door to the left of the hallway leads into a cosy double bedroom, if you can tear your eyes away from the beautiful views out of the window you will find plenty of storage in a built in wardrobe with hanging space plus an additional wardrobe and chest of drawers. There are 2 bedside tables, a chair and a mirror to complete the furniture and going back to the view, which is hard to ignore, it ranges right round from Aiken Knot past Cat Bells and the Newlands Valley to Scope End on Hindscarth.
Back into the hallway the next door along is the family bathroom with shower over the bath and a heated towel rail. There is plenty of space to enjoy a soak in the bath and then a lovely warm towel to relax in luxury.
To the right off the hall is the main living area and kitchen, with a dual aspect you are again getting the full advantage of the Newlands Valley and surrounding fells in all its glory. The kitchen is to the right and is well equipped with everything you may need whether whipping up a 3 course meal for a special occasion or just grabbing a quick bite after a good pub lunch! The oven and hob are electric, the fridge has a freezer compartment and there is also a microwave and a dishwasher for convenience. The dining table for 2 is positioned in front of the side window so you can enjoy the views while lingering over a sociable meal.
The living area also takes advantage of the views with windows on 2 sides, overall this is a lovely light room. A large corner sofa is perfect for relaxing evenings in and an electric stove keeps the room really toasty in the winter. The Freesat TV has a DVD player with a choice of DVDs available on the shelf beneath. This is a homey room decorated with sheep ornaments and photographs of local views on the walls. Wifi is available but can be intermittent as is the mobile phone signal - a great opportunity to really get away from the demands of modern life.
Outside the sloping grass garden has a picnic bench for al fresco dining with a view and there are also table and chairs stored in the hallway for your use in the garden as you wish. Sit out, enjoy the peace and marvel at the scenery - definitely one to remember.
Oaks Apartment is a perfect little retreat for 2 people; walkers will be spoiled for choice here but walkers and non-walkers alike cannot fail to feel privileged to be able to stay in such a stunning location and enjoy the wonderful views without having to move from the sofa.
