Cottage 9 forms part of North Lodge, an impressive Grade II Listed former Almshouse, just across the road from the beach at Allonby. Lovingly renovated, Cottage 9 is now a welcoming and homely retreat for 2 people and 2 lucky dogs. The accommodation is all laid out over the ground floor; there's a well equipped kitchen, large shower room, lovely living room and bedroom, both with fantastic sea views. The cottage also has its own private patio area and access to a shared parking area, which has views over the surrounding countryside.
Allonby is a charming seaside village on the beautiful Solway Coast. Walk from the cottage door down to the sea, enjoy a bracing walk along the beach before treating yourselves to fish and chips and an ice cream in the village. The Solway Coast is renowned for its stunning sunsets so remember to pack a flask and enjoy a hot chocolate whilst taking in the evening sea air. The Cumbrian Coastal Way passes through the village or take in a round of golf at Maryport Golf Course - try not to get too distracted by the view!
For those interested in history, there's certainly plenty on offer nearby. Fans of maritime history should head to the harbour towns of Maryport and Whitehaven, or spend a day in the border city of Carlisle where you can learn all about the area's Roman heritage at the fantastic Tullie House Museum. For those who'd prefer to indulge in a bit of retail therapy, head to the Georgian market town of Cockermouth or bustling Keswick for a great selection of outdoor and independent shops.
North Lodge Cottage 9 can be booked alongside the neighbouring North Lodge Cottage 8.
