The Nook is a wonderful welcoming cottage nestled in the charming village of Stainton, close to Penrith on the Eastern edge of the Lake District National Park. Sleeping six, the cottage has bags of character with exposed beams, log burning stoves and deep sandstone window ledges, while having comfortable, thoughtful decor throughout.
Stainton is a tranquil haven of a village which has an excellent local pub, a popular restaurant and a farm cafe with its own play barn all within a stone’s throw of The Nook. Less than a mile’s walk away you have an Alpaca centre with its own clothing outlet, and Rheged which is an award winning visitor attraction boasting shops, local art, a deli and a gigantic 3D cinema. Within a four mile radius of the cottage you have Penrith, an attractive Cumbrian town which is the hub of the Eden Valley, and Dalemain, a beautiful Georgian mansion and gardens with a rich history dating back to Saxon times.
If exploring the stunning natural surroundings is more to your taste then you are perfectly placed to indulge. The head of Ullswater Lake is less than four miles away opening up a world of activities to enjoy. The Ullswater valley has some of the most stunning scenery in the Lake District with a wealth of walks and cycle rides to choose from. Alternatively the crystal clear waters of the lake provide plenty of activities to enjoy. Why not hire a kayak or rowing boat and find a secluded beach to enjoy a picnic? If something more stately is to your taste you could take gentle serpentine cruise on an Ullswater steamer soaking in the stunning scenery while enjoying a drink from the on-board bar!
