This house was actually a lot better than expected. Our family, which includes 4 young children, appreciated the open-plan set-up. The small garden wasn't a problem as we were outside nearly all day anyway. We loved the views from the back, and appreciated being able to park our car easily in the area next to the garden. While we did have a problem with the boiler leaking, this was rectified very quickly by Sally's Cottages.
The only minor issues we had with the house is that the bathroom has no natural light, and little ventilation, and the furniture was all rather dark and severe. We would stay in it again.

Quite good , a pair of sunloungers for use in the back garden would be nice ,and it's a shame it is now 3 bedrooms last year it was 4 , seems a bit odd to do that ??? , wi if is a big improvement .

A great cottage, well located. The open plan lounge/diner is great for larger groups (my sister and her family stayed down the road and we were able to fit 11 around the dining table for dinner one night, at a squeeze). Good facilities - a phone and wifi have been installed since we booked, which was a big plus bearing in mind there is no mobile phone reception in the area. Large and well-equipped kitchen, and they have made something of an effort in the small garden, which is also nice to sit out in (though in shade in the evening). We managed to squeeze four cars into the parking area (a supermini, 2 golf-sized and a larger saloon). It's a shame one of the bedrooms is locked up (presumably to store the owner's private things) as it would be well able to sleep more than 6 people otherwise. But it is very comfortable for 6. Great area, with lots of super walking etc for the adults, steam train, play areas and riverside entertainment for the toddlers. And a couple of nice pubs within walking distance, serving good food. All very nice.

Hi Kevin, thank you for your review. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at 1 Orange Hill. Just as a family holiday should be! The location is fab with something for everyone isn't it? I bet the kids loved the La'al Ratty! I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
