General Description
High Swinside Farmhouse is entered through a wooden farmhouse door into the entrance hall where there are coat hooks and a glazed window to the yard.

A lockable door connects the Farmhouse to Little Swinside Cottage, allowing a further two people to be accommodated in their own private space. Please enquire at the time of booking. Nine people can be accommodated in the Farmhouse plus two people in the cottage.

A door leads into the kitchen which is a large sociable area with a quarry tiled floor. Original beams line the ceiling and hold some of the original meat hooks. The dining area has a large table and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped for feeding a group and has an electric oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave. There is also a washing machine and further laundry facilities in the basement.

Off the kitchen there is a shower room with a shower, toilet and washbasin.

There are steps up to a further hallway with doors leading to the living room and downstairs twin bedroom. Dog-leg stairs lead to the first floor and a window offers views of the fell to the rear of the property.

The sitting room has a beamed ceiling and lovely views westwards. There is a multi-paned door to the front porch and a window with good views to Low Fell across the valley. Sofas and armchairs are arranged around a coffee table, TV and multifuel burner on a tiled hearth.

The first bedroom is a double room with beautiful view over the vale of Lorton. The bed is super king and can be made into twin beds on request. The second bedroom also has a super king zip and link bed (again please let us know if you would like this made into twins) and a single bed. A further bedroom has twin beds, sloping ceiling and exposed beams.

The family bathroom has a bath, WC and washbasin. There is a sloping ceiling in the bathroom and original beams.

Outside there is extensive parking shared with the other cottages. There is a farmyard garden shared with other residents a grassed area with benches, and open fell access. Two traditional wooden hot tubs have been installed in the grounds offering stunning views of the Lorton valley. The hot tub is shared with the other cottages on site and must be booked in advance to ensure all guests have an opportunity to use them. Please contact Diana, the owner, if you would like to reserve a hot tub (£10 a night for a minimum of 3 nights). Free range chickens roam the shared gardens so please keep dogs on a lead whilst outside. Diana provides a special dogs run free area that has been fenced to 4ft and allows owners and their dogs to enjoy the peace and quiet of Lorton in a secure area.
