Definitely one of the best holiday cottages I have stayed at. You feel totally at home the minute you arrive. It is so cosy, well decorated and furnished and extremely well stocked. I love the quirkiness of this property and love the open fire and cosy living room. I stayed in the basement which is another cosy room, Have been recommending to all my friends, would definitely stay again

Hi Helen, thank you for your review. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at Hardingill Cottage. It's a real home from home isn't it? The perfect place to come home to after a day out exploring. Come back soon, you can be sure of a warm welcome.

You can't go wrong staying in Gosforth, can you, Michael!! Sounds like you had a great stay and were able to get out and explore the area. Hope to see you again soon!

This is a personal opinion, this cottage is situated in a beautiful part of the country but the details of the cottage are sadly lacking in necessary details. The accommodation is great if you have full mobility. The levels inside are such that you have to go down into the kitchen from the outside then up steep varnished steps to the sitting room and dining room, if you need the loo you have to go down these steps go across the kitchen and up more stairs to the bathroom. To get to the bed room you have to climb extremely steep stairs and then up another set of equally steep stairs to the very top. The beds are not very good quality so if you need support take a memory foam topper with you. The equipment was complete but mugs and some bowls had chips in them and the hob on the range had a big sharp crack in it and this was noted weeks before in the visitors book. The radiator in the top bedroom leaks when switched on so couldn't use and to go round the bed to get to wardrobe meant walking on wet carpet and the boiler feed leaks as well, as I understand this is known to the owner. On the outside the so called garden is an unowned scrubby peace of grass which you could use for abseiling practice it is so steep there is no way you could sit on the grass as none of it is flat, the grass grows on the hillside behind the house. On going into the house my husband had to brush away cobwebs in some corners as I have a horror of spiders and when we went to use the tools on the vacuum they also had a cobweb and dust on them which made it evident they hadn't been used for some time. It is a shame as the area is outstanding and we found some lovely place to eat, notably The Bridge Inn, lovely seafood as well as other meals, book as packed solid with diners, great atmosphere too and landlord eats the food as well which is always a good sign. The Lion and Lamb also lovely food and friendly staff as we found in the local shop too. Lots of places to visit around and scenery is breathtaking so the cottage was somewhat disappointing. We are not ones to let things get us down easily but we have rented cottages all over the UK and been able to get past any little foibles that we have come across. I think that maybe someone from Sally's should visit themselves and adjust the information accordingly. Had we known about all the steps and steep garden we would still have booked a cottage but not this one.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so glad you enjoyed your holiday. The location is stunning isn't it? Much quieter than other parts of the Lakes.
I'm sorry to hear that the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived, if you had let me know at the time I would have arranged for someone to come out and take care of it for you. I really appreciate your feedback about the issues with kitchen equipment and the radiator and have passed this on to the owner, thankyou. I will also bear your comments about mobility in mind when reviewing the cottage information. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
