This is a lovely cottage. Very comfortable and well equipped. We loved the open fire but it would be useful to be reminded before arrival that extra logs can be pre-ordered during the autumn/winter months and additional kindling would help (luckily we did pre-order and brought our own kindling so all well). The lack of a local shop means you can't rely on just popping out to get anything you've forgotten; so come prepared. But an excellent foody pub on the doorstep is some compensation! For walkers the area is paradise and the cottage is a joy to hunker down in in inclement weather.

The booking process was very easy and the owners easily contactable and helpful.

I can't recommend the cottage highly enough.

Hi Cath, thank you for your review. It sounds like you had a wonderful time at Lane End. It's the perfect place to come home to after a day out exploring isn't it? If you enjoy walking you certainly picked a great area, there's walks galore from the doorstep. You just can't beat an open fire after a day on the fells. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

Lovely cottage which we have stayed at previously. Everything is lovely - really like home from home and the owner always rings after we arrive to ask if everything is OK.

The only reason I have given a 9 not a 10 for cleanliness on this occasion was because the bin in the upstairs bathroom hadn't been emptied and contained personal sanitary waste which I found rather unpleasant.

Everything else was spotless as usual and I can only assume this was a complete oversight by the cleaning staff. Obviously fault of the previous occupants who shouldn't have used the bin in this way - not even a bin liner!

Hi Rita, I'm so pleased you enjoyed another lovely stay at Lane End. It really is a lovely, homely cottage. The perfect place to return to after a day out exploring.
I'm sorry to hear about the bin in the upstairs bathroom, I really appreciate you letting me know and will pass it on to the owner, thank you.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

A wonderful cottage which was well equipped with microwave, cooker, washing machine and tumble dryer and toaster etc. The location was superb, very quiet and with lots of walks straight from the cottage which was a big plus. There were lots of books at the property as well as lots of local guide books and walking routes, which we found very helpful. There were 2 pubs in the village and a third, The Woolpack, a mile away, we sampled all 3 and would recommend them, everyone was really friendly, will definitely go back.

Hi Karen, it sounds like you had a wonderful time at Lane End. It's a lovely homely cottage isn't it? The perfect place to come home to after a day out exploring. It's such a bonus being able to go out walking and leave the car behind. I'm glad you tried all the local pubs, they really are very welcoming and serve great food don't they? Until next time.
