High Spy is a characterful second-floor apartment for four to six people within Kiln How, a beautiful traditional building nestled in Borrowdale. Right in the heart of tranquil Rosthwaite this makes a wonderful base for family or friends to make the most of this much-loved area. The apartment forms the upper floor of the house and makes the most of its attic setting with delightful period details and lovely decorative touches.
Access to Kiln How is shared, from the main front door there is a reception hall where the owners have thoughtfully left plenty of local information to inspire you for your adventures. At the top of the main staircase there is a landing with the entrances to three of the apartments, High Spy is number 4. After that door there is a steep staircase to the main landing on the second floor from which all the accommodation is accessed.
The open plan living, dining and kitchen area is delightful. Set into the eaves and boasting glorious elevated views of the surrounding fells it makes a wonderful space to relax. There are exposed beams, two traditional windows set into nooks with wonderful outlooks and possibly one of the best views from the kitchen sink you could wish to find! The living area has two large sofas, a television with Freesat and built-in DVD player as well as a wall mounted electric bar heater. The kitchen area is equipped with a built-in fan oven and electric hobs, a fridge and microwave as well as all the crockery and cookware you are likely to need for your stay. There is also a small round dining table with space-saving seating.
Moving on to the bedrooms. There are two gorgeous double rooms, both with wardrobes, bedside tables with drawers, vanity units with sinks and gorgeous nook windows for viewing the fells to the east of the house. The two cosy single rooms are magical spaces for little ones with velux windows and adorable wardrobe and drawers sets. The apartment also has a spacious bathroom with a separate shower enclosure with electric shower as well as a further utility cupboard for storage.
Outside there is a shared parking area and a lovely shared garden. It's a beautiful space with mature shrubs, fell views and seating to enjoy a morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine.
