1 Archway Cottages is a former workers cottage with spacious accommodation for 4 people located in the small village of Little Broughton. Although there are not views from the property itself you do not have to walk far to see panoramic vistas across to the fells.
Parking is available for 2 cars on the driveway in front of the cottage. The front door leads into a large porch with practical tiled floor for muddy boots and coat hooks for drying out coats on wet days.
Another door leads out of the porch and opens into the main living room. This spacious room contains two 2-seater sofas around a log burner set in a traditional stone lintelled fireplace to entice you to spend evenings in, watching the fire whatever the temperature outside. Beside the fireplace is the 32" TV with Freeview and a DVD player. There is also a selection of children's games to keep the little ones occupied while you get some R&R.
The ground floor is semi-open plan with wide open doorways linking the rooms. Leading out of the right side of the living room is a large dining room with lovely feature fireplace. A dining table with 4 chairs, a dresser and a rocking chair complete the furniture and the window looks out over the drive. An open shelving unit with more games and some local interest books links through to the kitchen.
A small hallway area provides the link between the dining room, living room and kitchen and also provides storage for the ironing board and cleaning equipment.
The fitted kitchen is at the back of the house, the fridge and freezer are both built in along with a gas hob and electric oven and there is also a microwave. You will find plenty of storage space in the cupboards as well as all the usual kitchen equipment and crockery plus ample worktop for preparation - whether that is your own gourmet creation or dishing out a takeaway! The floor is tiled and a colourful tiled splashback is both practical and decorative.
The stairs lead off the corner of the living room up to a landing. The stairs are a little steep so may not be suitable for those a little less abled. First on the right is the roomy twin bedroom with a window overlooking the driveway. There is a chest of drawers for storage and shelving with a selection of children's books, plus a lovely picture of some cute highland cattle on the wall.
The next room along is the double bedroom also overlooking the drive, with bedside tables and a wardrobe for storage.
Opposite the bedrooms is a large family bathroom with laminate floor - choose from a soak in the bath or a refreshing walk in shower. A heated towel rail will ensure you have snuggly towels when you get out.
The garden wraps round two sides of the house accessed either from the drive or a back door out of the kitchen. To the side of the house is an area of lawn ideal for exercising dogs or children and at the back of the house is a raised gravelled seating area with table and two chairs. There are also two outhouses which could be used for storing bikes if required.
