Hullbridge, Essex. Couple
- This is my sixth time in using Sally Cottages this year. Rose Cottage, in Portinscale, is stunning, the owners have put a lot of TLC into renovating it back to its naturally glory. This you can see in the book they put together showing a picture story of the work that went into doing this delightful cottage up. Overall the best cottage I have stayed at yet. The kitchen very well equipped (nice touch for tea, coffee and bottle of wine on arrival), great utility room for washing and drying things, living room with log burner so warm and cosy like home from home. Slate flooring is great so easy to keep clean. Beds very comfy for a good night sleep. Small shared but pretty garden, shame no grass for dogs, handy if they need a quick break in the middle of the night, although not a deal breaker for us.
Portinscale is a lovely location great walks not to far from your door step, Catbells, Coledale Horseshoe, Newlands Valley also just a mile walk into Keswick town we didn't use the car once. Had a lovely lunch at Lingholm Kitchen which is dog friendly, much appreciated as it was on route after long walk around Derwent Water.
Overall we loved Rose Cottage (it is truly hard to fault) so much so have already booked again for January.

Oh Glynis, I can see you've found a perfect holiday cottage in Rose Cottage! The owners here love to welcome their visitors, as you found! You've certainly filled your time well and I'm glad you managed to call in to Lingholm as you passed! You'll be able to try some of the other eateries in January. See you then!
