Directions

From the South

Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A590 and then the A595 signposted to Whitehaven and Workington.
Eventually pass through Holmrook and then after another 5 miles turn right into Gosforth village (signposted Gosforth, Eskdale and Wasdale).
Pass through the village ignoring a right hand turn off for Eskdale, and keep to the Wasdale road.
Stay on this road for two miles and then take a right hand turn down a narrow lane signposted for Nether Wasdale.
As you enter Nether Wasdale, you'll pass the Low Wood Hall Hotel and two pubs either side of the road.
Take the first turning down a lane to the right about 500m on from Church Stile Holiday Park on the left-hand-side.
You'll reach a stone packhorse bridge; don't cross it but turn sharp left instead.
Irt Cottage is the traditional stone cottage a further 60m up the lane on the right-hand-side.
There is ample parking to the rear of the cottage.

From the North
Leave the M6 at Junction 40 (Penrith)
Take the A66 west toward Workington, and then the A595 to Whitehaven and Egremont.
Once south of Egremont pass through Calder Bridge, with Gosforth the next village en route.
Turn left into Gosforth and then keep left at the mini roundabout. Pass through the village ignoring a right hand turn off for Eskdale, and keep to the Wasdale road.
