- Our family group of four adults had a perfect week at this lovely cottage. The cottage is quite small, however the room layout is very cleverly designed to maximize the available space, and the wet room proved invaluable for the wheelchair-bound member of our party. The provision of an orthopedic bed was also most welcome.
Although only a half-mile from the town centre the location is very quite and peaceful, and the the mature gardens are a great place to relax after a day out.
Although the cottage is fully wheelchair accessible, please be aware that Helm Road, upon which the cottage is located, is very steep. Therefore, if using a normal push wheelchair "popping into town" isn't an option unless the wheelchair pusher has superhuman powers to get back up the hill. Our disabled party member uses a powered wheelchair so the climb wasn't an issue for us, but if using a regular wheelchair be prepared to have to drive every time you go out. Whilst this observation has no relevance to the first class accommodation, I feel it is worth mentioning.

Hi Chris, thank you for your review. I'm so pleased you had such a great time at Birch Cottage. It's the perfect place for a relaxing break, yet there's so much to see and do nearby isn't there? I hope you all enjoyed exploring this lovely part of the Lakes. Until next time!
