We've just had a fantastic 3 night weekend break. Beautiful, cosy cottage in the most peaceful, idyllic location. The cottage was perfect for just the two of us and our little dog. Even our dog loved it, he was so content especially infront of the fire! I agree with recent comments about the fridge being a little small for food storage and maybe some would benefit from a microwave but other than that, it was well equipped, clean and comfortable. We wouldn't hesitate in booking again and we really didn't want to come home.

Oh Emma, I'm so glad you loved the cottage. It's in a really blissful location, definitely! I've passed on your comments about the fridge and microwave, thank you for them. Look forward to seeing you again - maybe for a bit longer?

Firstly, I should say that this was our third trip to The Cottage.

It’s a beautiful part of the world and overall we had a great few days but there are one or two things that should be noted.

The area where the cottage is situated is quite frankly stunning. You couldn’t ask for a more prime location. If you like walking, like we do then you will love it....even when it’s pouring with a crazy Labrador.

The Cottage itself has a few minor issues. Firstly the WiFi is non existent. Not something I personally need when I’m away but I’m sure there are some that need some form of contact to the outside world as the phone signal is zero.

Secondly, after numerous visits to the place we noticed the damp in some rooms is becoming very noticeable and will become a health issue for some given it’s in the bedroom walls.

A couple of very small things....outside light wasn’t working. I would’ve fixed it myself if I could have opened the light casing but didn’t have a screwdriver. Take a torch....the one necessity I’d recommend.

Hardly any fridge storage for a cottage for 4 people. Compartment in door of fridge obviously had broken and not been replaced.

Essentially, The Cottage is a very nice place to getaway and enjoy The Lakes but these issues will undoubtedly turn people away.

I’m sure a little more attention to the general well-being of the cottage will ensure people will enjoy coming back for years to come but with the current damp issue - I’m not so sure.

Dear F, Thank you for your feedback.

Regarding the wifi, we have been in contact with BT to try to sort issues regarding wifi as it unfortunately varies from “very efficient” as mentioned by other guests to 'not working' which unfortunately seem to have been the case for your stay. We are unsure as to why the cottage suffers as the main house has had no problems. We have switched accounts recently and hope that this will make a difference.

With regard to damp the Cottage was redecorated in February and we will have another look at this. We are looking at upgrading the fans in the bathroom with humidity sensitive ones. Regretfully we often find the fan switched off at the end of guests stay which does not help. The broken compartment in the fridge door had not been reported, thank you for the information, we will look in to getting a replacement in for this.

I note this was your third stay - I look forward to welcoming you back so you can see the issues you raise have been addressed.

Kind regards,

Evelina, manager at Jenkinson Place

The cottage is beautifully secluded and quiet. Perfect location for walking and for just admiring the views. The only negative would be the lack of storage space for food in the kitchen as they are all taken up.

I've passed your feedback about the lack of storage space in the kitchen onto the owner, thank you. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
