A lovely venue for our family celebration. The house had plenty of space so the three generations could all be together or do their own thing. Stunning sitting room and large kitchen. Plenty of large cooking and serving dishes for a big group. A few smaller serving dishes/ tubs would be useful e.g for putting stuff in fridge. Large fridge and large freezer. Useful pantry area. Great to have a fully equipped utility room with washer and drier. Bedroom layout suited our group. Down stairs twin bedroom our least favourite as next to pool room and lots of windows and doors. Also noisy from bathroom above. The four poster ensuite was gorgeous. All other bedrooms as described.
The peaceful setting was just what we wanted and the views breathtaking.
Lovely to have a sauna after a day on the hills. Dog friendly with powerful hose for washing muddy pups. Good selection of hiking and road biking routes from the door. Mountain biking routes close by.
Helpful and friendly owner.

Hi Angela, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It sounds like you had a wonderful family holiday at Low Swinside. I can't think of a better place for a celebration! The views are incredible aren't they? I hope you enjoyed exploring this beautiful part of the Lakes.
I'll pass your suggestion for some smaller serving dishes/tubs on to the owner for consideration. Here's to the next Lakes adventure!

The house was large enough for our family party of ten plus baby. The beds very comfortable but the ground floor twin room felt damp and gloomy. The view out is beautiful and garden is large, but the entrance to property does not do it justice.
It was a lovely dining area to have our celebratory meals but the kitchen did lack some equipment. The log burner is great and works well giving the house a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you wished to use the TV this never worked for us, so the plus was more conversation and board games. The configuration of showers/bathrooms could be a challenge for a large group, especially proximity of toilet for the downstairs twin room. Location close to Cockermouth and Keswick and beautiful walks is good.Parking for a number of cars, we had four,is slightly challenging.

Fantastic cottage for a big group. We came for a weekend of walking, cooking and relaxing and Low Swinside was the perfect place for this.

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback, Sophie. You've certainly done Low Swinside proud - that's exactly what I think it's made for! I hope you managed to enjoy the sauna while you were here. If not, perhaps it'll be high on your list for when you return!
