Location of Banklands

Directions

From the South
Leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 for Kendal/Lakes
Follow signs to Barrow (A590)
Turn right to Workington (A5092) 3 miles beyond Newby Bridge
Follow this road for 10 miles (it bypasses Broughton-in-Furness)
Turn right to Ulpha before the River Duddon (at the traffic lights 3/4 mile beyond Broughton)
After 4 miles turn left in Ulpha village to the steep hill signed Eskdale.
Follow the fell road to the King George IV pub (6 miles)
After passing the King George IV go over the hump bridge and up the small hill
As you continue along the road you will see a small woodland on the left
Turn almost immediately left into the driveway through the drystone wall on the left
There is a gave across the driveway with a wooden sign for Banklands
Please park your car in the gravelled parking area just before the second wooden gate

There is parking for 2/3 cars. A trolley is provided to wheel your luggage down the grassed track to the house (about 100 yards). Please do not drive up to the house to protect the grass. 

From the North
Leave the M6 at Carlisle (junction 44) and follow the A595 (signed Barrow)
Turn off at Gosforth and follow the road (6 miles) to Eskdale
Keep going right through Eskdale Village
You will pass St Bega's Hall on your right and the Outward Bound Centre on your left
Continue down the road a little waysmall wooded area on your right
Turn right through the wooden gate just before this woodland into the driveway to Banklands
Please park your car in the gravelled parking area just before the second wooden gate
