I've got the best distraction today with a wonderful new cottage!
The Barn (Borrowdale) is located in the picturesque hamlet of Seatoller at the foot of Honister Pass and seasoned fell walkers couldn't ask for a better setting. With so many of the most popular mountain summits achievable straight from the door, you'll be spoilt for choice! For those who like a more gentle ramble, the Borrowdale valley won't disappoint either: be sure to stop off at one of the valley's popular pubs on the way back to the cottage, too.
Hidden behind traditional wooden barn doors is a wonderful, newly installed modern dining kitchen. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need (there's a handy utility room where you'll find everything else you might need!), this is a beautiful, light and bright space perfect for planning routes over breakfast and catching up on the day's activities whilst enjoying a slap-up evening meal. The sliding glass doors provide fantastic views of the countryside and surrounding fells.
Also on the ground floor is a lovely king-size bedroom. With a wall-mounted TV and handy reading lights, this is the perfect room for retreating with a good book or a mug of hot chocolate to catch up on the latest shows. A bathroom is accessed via both the utility room and bedroom: both doors lock, so you could make the bathroom an en suite for the ground floor bedroom if so desired. This modern and beautifully finished bathroom contains a bath with shower over: relax or reinvigorate, the choice is yours!
Head up the stairs to find the other two bedrooms: a cosy twin and another king-size room. The vaulted ceiling and feature beams give you clues to the cottage's past life as, you guessed it, a barn! There's a bright modern shower room on the first floor, so no need to be fighting over bathrooms here! The living room is also located on the first floor. Full of character and cosy charm, this is a delightful place for relaxing. The fantastic views from the living room, good choice of guide books, and photographs from the owner's own walks won't have you relaxing for long - you'll be itching to get back out!
I think an idyllic staycation in the hills is calling.
