Nether House is a very special spot. Parts of the house date back to the 1600s - and the house has been in the same family ever since! Now opening its doors to guests, Nether House is a large detached home from home that’s sure to delight.
As you’d expect from a country retreat, there’s a large boot room with a feature former fireplace and wonderful original slate flooring. Complete with coat hooks and wellie racks, this is the perfect spot to leave wet coats and muddy boots before continuing your journey.
The quirky kitchen is well equipped with the essentials for a self catering holiday. In here you’ll find an electric oven and hob, microwave and toaster as well as the all important kettle! There’s also a free-standing slimline dishwasher, so there’ll be no need to fight over who has to do the washing up.
Off the kitchen is a handy utility room, which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a useful ground floor WC.
The grand dining room is a fantastic backdrop for convivial meals; two large windows let in plenty of light and provide beautiful views out over the garden. The charming living room is full of character. An inviting 3-seater sofa and a pretty 2-seater sofa are positioned in front of the open fire, perfect for cosy evenings in. There’s also a TV for entertainment in here too. At the other end of the living room is another floral 2-seater sofa and 2 wicker chairs. Overlooking the garden, ornithologists will love watching the comings and goings of the wide variety of birds who also like to visit Nether House - or its garden at least!
The 5 bedrooms can be found on the first floor, so head up the traditional wood-panelled staircase to discover these.
The first bedroom you come to is a double room, overlooking the back garden and with a feature metal-framed bed. Opposite is the single room with a rustic wooden single bed, bunting, and wicker rocking chair. It’s a charming room with a handy chest of drawers and a lovely view over the garden from the window. Adjacent to the single room is the second double bedroom; a spacious bedroom with a beautiful antique double bed and feature fireplace. A charming window seat overlooks the garden, a perfect spot for relaxing with a good book.
Further along the corridor are the 2 remaining bedrooms. The lovely twin room has matching wooden single beds, a handy dresser and a beautifully painted ornate chest of drawers. Last but by no means least is the quirkily-shaped kingsize bedroom. The bed is perfectly positioned to take full advantage of the stunning views from the large picture window - ideal for a morning brew with a view! This bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom; with a WC, washbasin and quirky corner bath, it’s a real treat.
Also on the first floor is the spacious family bathroom. With a WC, washbasin and bath with shower over, ideal whether you prefer a soak in the tub or a refreshing shower.
As well as having plenty of parking, the house sits in a wonderful garden. The garden gets the sun for most of the day, making it a delightful spot for some R&R. The large lawn areas are sure to be a hit with adults, children and dogs alike! There are also 2 different seating areas with outdoor tables, chairs and benches, perfect for al fresco dining. A wide variety of wildlife, from hedgehogs to barn owls, visit the garden so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for your animal neighbours.
Nether House is located next to a working farm and therefore there will be the associated comings and goings of a farmyard, including machinery and livestock. Indeed, a dairy herd of cows pass by the house to the neighbouring farm every day for milking. Please be sure to keep the gates to the house closed, to keep the cows out of the garden.
