Newcastle upon Tyne Couple
- We had a fabulous week here at Montara Cottage. We haven’t really explored the South Lakes beforehand and weren’t disappointed! The proximity to exploring the central Lakes and Fells of Coniston, Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere is relatively close with a max drive of 30 mins and only a 20 minute drive to our favourite restaurants - The Drunken Duck & The Punchbowl! We were fortunate with good weather so got in lots of walking, but on rainy days enjoyed checking out more local sites such as Seziergh House, Cartmel and found our new favourite lunch spot - Yew Tree Barn which was only a 10 minute drive away with a beautiful shop selling local products. We thoroughly enjoyed putting the fire on each night and were always nice and warm in the cottage. Kitchen was very well equipped so we cooked in most nights and enjoyed watching old DVDs and the slower pace of life. Lack of WiFi was a little inconvenient for planning walks, but we enjoyed being off grid too. Our only slightly negative comments is that the village lacks a decent pub (can’t be helped by cottage) and the house could do with a few handy amenities such as a tea towel in the kitchen and were upset to find that was no recycling bin, so took it home with us. Other than we loved our stay and will certainly be back again for a weeks rest. Thanks for a great start to 2020!

Hello Katie, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It's a gem of a cottage, isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location for exploring the beautiful Lakes and getting out and about on some great walks. I note you chose some fabulous eateries - yum yum! You can't beat a cosy open fire for kicking back and relaxing - perfect! Thank you also for your feedback, I will look into the points you have raised further. I'm thrilled you had a fabulous holiday and I very much look forward to welcoming you back soon!
