General Description

Montara is a cosy and well-appointed terraced cottage in the South Lakeland village of Backbarrow. Sleeping up to four people in two comfortable bedrooms and with period details such as exposed beams and an open fire it has a warm and welcoming feeling from the moment you arrive. Montara occupies a great position for exploring the areas around Lake Windermere and Coniston Water as well as the Lakeland peninsulas. It also has the advantage of looking out onto the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway line making it a magical cottage for all steam enthusiasts.

On arrival at the house guests enter the enclosed porch in which there is plenty of space for coats and the muddy boots and wellies you might need on your adventures. Through from here lies the cosy and welcoming living room and dining area. There's a comfy two-seater sofa as well as two armchairs arranged around the open fireplace along with a TV and DVD player for entertainment. For dining there's a space saving drop leaf table and chairs too. The owners have thoughtfully left a selection of books and local information to help inspire your travels.

Moving to the rear of the house the kitchen is equipped with ceramic hob, a handy mid-height built-in fan oven, microwave, an under-counter fridge-freezer and a washing machine as well as all the crockery and cookware you will need for your stay. Beyond the kitchen at the bottom of the stairs lies the downstairs shower room which has an electric shower in a square enclosure.

The stairs lead up from here to the two bedrooms. The warm and welcoming master bedroom has a wooden king-size bed frame, two chairs along with a wardrobe and dresser for storage. Its view looks out over the village to Barrow Fell. The second bedroom is a twin, which has a wardrobe and dresser and looks out to the woodland at the rear of the house and on to the railway where you can see heritage steam engines passing in the daytime.

Outside the cottage there is a back yard with furniture for outdoor dining and a bench to sit out in the small elevated front garden area which is an ideal spot to take in the view over a morning cuppa or an evening glass of wine.
