Mellrigg is a rare treat of a cottage in a special location: tucked away in a rural setting above Ullswater, this cosy Lakeland cottage is only available for six weeks of the year. Mellrigg sleeps 4 people in 3 small bedrooms with comfortable living space inside and wonderful large gardens outside. It's a truly peaceful setting on a rural lane at the foot of Gowbarrow Fell with very little passing traffic. You can enjoy fantastic walks or bike rides straight from the door or take the short trip down the hill to Ullswater - one of Lakeland’s longest and most majestic lakes.
Ullswater is perfect for enjoying summer holiday watersports - hire boats and canoes from Pooley Bridge and Glenridding or try windsurfing and paddle boarding with local adventure companies. Ullswater is blessed with hidden coves and sheltered beaches perfect for picnics or fishing. The steamer boats cruise the length of the glorious lake. Hop off at three points along the shore for an adventure!
You can enjoy exhilarating fell walks on Helvellyn or St Sunday Crag, or take a leisurely stroll in the beautiful valleys and on lakeshore paths. The area also has some great pubs and cafes or you can wander round the stately homes at Dalemain and Lowther both within easy reach of the cottage.
Penrith and Keswick are both within a 30 minute drive of Mellrigg. The towns offer a full compliment of good pubs, restaurants, cinemas and essential services. Nearby Rheged centre has a fun filled programme and plenty to entertain children through the summer holidays.
