Spacious barn conversion in the peaceful Duddon Valley, with easy access to relaxing local walks as well as Lake District gems such as Coniston Water, Grizedale Forest and Windermere.

Stay in this warm and welcoming barn conversion situated at the mouth of the picturesque Duddon Valley. Sleeping up to six people in three well appointed bedrooms and boasting beautiful socialising spaces it makes a perfect base to explore this unspoiled area. Contemporary luxurious furnishings and high spec appliances are complimented by individual quirky pieces creating a lovely atmosphere for a family or small group stay.

Duddon Bridge sits between Lakeland's south western fells and the Irish Sea. Less visited than some of the more hectic areas of the Lake District, this area boasts some fabulous walking and cycling without the crowds. Why not head up to beautiful Seathwaite and enjoy a riverside walk? Alternatively take a dip in one of the swimming dubs. Stickle Pike makes a rewarding walk, you can even cheat a little and take the snaking narrow road over to Broughton Mills, then you can start the walk half way up! Just up the road is the charming village of Broughton-in-Furness. Set around a Georgian village square with an obelisk at its heart, it boasts award winning pubs with great locally sourced food and real ales, two excellent cafes, a great play park, and a much-loved bakery, grocers and butchers shop.

Beautiful Coniston also lies nearby where you can explore the area's rich culture, take on some mighty Lakeland peaks or just have fun on the water. If you're feeling energetic you can hire a rowing boat or kayak to explore the beaches around the picturesque 5-mile lake. For a more leisurely exploration of the water, why not catch the beautiful Steam Yacht Gondola during the summer months? You could make a day of it and head to Coniston's fascinating Ruskin Museum. There's something there for everyone as its exhibitions cover the worlds of literature, art and the area's water speed record heritage. However you choose to spend your stay, this cottage is a perfect base from which to start.

This cottage is a beautiful modern barn conversion by the lovely River Duddon. This semi-detached property is one of a small hamlet of houses near the charming village of Broughton-in-Furness. Sleeping up to six people in three lovely bedrooms, it has a warm and welcoming feeling about it from the moment you arrive. The owners have used a subtle palette of colour, comfortable furnishings, atmospheric artwork and quirky decorative touches to make a great base from which to explore the beautiful south of Lakeland and its peninsulas.

On arrival at the house guests enter into the wonderful double-height conservatory. This is a great addition to the social space of the house where you can enjoy far-reaching views over meadows to the Grizebeck fells in the distance while lounging on the comfortable rattan furniture. There's a shoe rack and coat hooks in here, ideal for returning from muddy walks. The conservatory leads on to the gorgeous light-filled kitchen. It's well equipped with double oven, five gas hobs, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer. As well as this there's a high breakfast bar with cycle inspired barstools and a map for inspiring your outdoor adventures be they on foot or by pedal power!

The next room you come to is the delightful living and dining room. The living area has two deep comfy sofas along with a snuggle chair, all arranged around a wood burner and a curved screen Samsung Smart TV with DVD player. Perfect for cosy nights in. The other half of the room boasts a contemporary wooden dining set and a soft leather corner group sofa for extra seating, ideal for relaxing with a good book. In the rear hallway you’ll find a handy utility cupboard as well as a spacious downstairs WC.

Moving up the corner staircase now to the lovely bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king-size wooden bed frame, a wardrobe and views out across the meadows. Next is the cosy double bedroom which has a low-level window and a wardrobe with sliding doors for storage. Lastly the twin bedroom, this has a single wardrobe for storage and a quirky feel about it with stairs leading to a velux window looking towards the Duddon estuary. Pick a step to sit on and enjoy the view! The modern family bathroom has a large bath and a mixer shower in a separate enclosure, both ideal for soaking away tired, fell-walking muscles.

Outside there is a small lawn to the rear of the house and a larger fenced lawn to the front with outdoor seating for making the most of sunny days and enjoying the feeling of this sweet little hamlet. In all, guests will find this a welcoming base for their Lake District adventures.

Homely and very well equipped cottage not far from Coniston, Ambleside etc. Despite a visit from storm Agnes, we enjoyed our time in the lakes and that was made so by having a lovely base to return to each night!
