Lough Cottage is a charming cottage full of original features with exposed floorboards, beautiful beams and a tasteful mix of modern and antique furnishings.
It is a comfortable retreat for families or groups of friends and is in the small village of Kirkland, just a couple of miles from Ennerdale, one of the quietest and most remote valleys in the Lake District.
Here you will find high fells and forest paths. Keep an eye out for red squirrels, deer, badgers and highland cattle. Take a walk right round the lake before having a well earned meal at one of the two pubs in the village at Ennerdale Bridge.
Kirkland is also within easy driving distance of other Lake District highlights including Cockermouth, Loweswater, Buttermere and the Cumbrian coastline. There are plenty of family friendly attractions including the Lake District Wildlife Park near Bassenthwaite, an aquarium in Maryport, Go Ape at Whinlatter and the Ravenglass Steam Railway in Eskdale.
Next door to Lough Cottage is Hillcrest Cottage, which can sleep up to 5 people. Both cottages can be hired together - ideal for two families looking to go away on holiday.
Please bear in mind that due to the age of the cottage, some of the doorways have a slightly lower clearance than usual. If you have any questions about this then please contact the office and we will be happy to help.
