Lostrigg was an enjoyable break, although the pictures do not reflect the immediate location.
The worst aspect was the mist for a shower, the best the wood burner. The cottage was warm and comfortable.

Hi Mike, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, it's a lovely place for a relaxing break isn't it? Thanks for letting me know about the shower, I'll make sure we get that checked out. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

We were looking forward to some escapism amid the current climate and due to many people taking staycations we struggled to book as usual for the Lake District area as we usually do. On arriving at the holiday house we were immensely disappointed by been met by an unkept housing estate with an odd mix of dotted nice houses in the mix. Lostrigg is an old terraced cottage in the centre of the community and does not give you a holiday feel with neighbours going to work and kids to school etc early in the morning. Their is absolutely no amenities nearby without having to jump in the car and all the local pubs were in a persistent state of been shut, permanently by the looks. Parking outside the cottage is not great, we had to leave a parking light on so it wouldnt get hit on the road in the night as you have to leave it stuck out slightly so you can get through the garden gate. It's not the best place to walk your dog from either as thier is not really any meaningful paths so again it was a jump in the car all the time just for the short walks. The property is pleasant if in need of some TLC to the decor but the Front and Back gardens are fine for sitting out in and most of the sun hits the front. The logburner works perfectly and was clean on arrival with a provision of wood even though we brought our own. The TV was a bit hit and miss as it kept losing signal occassionally but I suppose this is expected in this sort of region and the internet side of the TV also didn't work so couldn't use NetFlix or anything. The kitchen is fairly modern however we couldn't use the washing machine as somebody's washing was left in it as well as the additional socks found in one of the bedroom draws. The oven had not been cleaned and crums werestill on the oven trays in addition to the dusty cobweb that attached to my hand after turning on the landing lamp so housekeeping a massive issue which makes you wander what goes on in the 7.5hrs between check ins given that 1700 is such a late check in time for self catering. Another big problem was that the properties general waste wheeli-bin' was practically full on arrival and the additional cheek is that holiday makers are expected to present it every Thursday for collection. We are on holiday? So due to it been full by the time we put it out on Thursday morning we had to leave two bags of side waste with it as we had no room for our waste. So because of this we decided to leave a day early as we were disappointed and fed up.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry to hear that your stay was not all that you expected it to be. I do ensure that where the cottage is situated is clear on the location map on the cottage's webpage. I also include a things to do section, so guests have an idea of what is available around the area. A lot of the local pubs have been affected by the COVID-19 situation, so this may impact on their opening hours. I have put a little more information on our website on the parking, so it is clear that this is on the road. I am sorry for the issues you experienced with the TV and cleanliness, I would have been happy to have those issues looked into during your stay, so please do always feel free to give me a call. I will of course address those as appropriate moving forward. It is standard across the majority of our cottages to ask visitors to leave the bins out for collection, so that the cleaner or owner do not disrupt your holiday. I am sorry that the bins were full on arrival, once again I would have been happy to sort this out for you had you let me know. I am saddened that you decided to leave early, please be assured all your comments will be looked into. I hope you still managed to enjoy your break and can look forward to exploring more of the Lakes soon.
