A very warm welcome to Little Orchard, a stunning little cottage with a very big view. Set at the northern end of Bassenthwaite Lake and sleeping three people (and one well-behaved pet), this wonderful, comfy bolthole has the kind of setting that dreams are made of and a delightful welcoming interior for whiling away your Lake District stay. Little Orchard is set in substantial shared gardens overlooking a panorama of Lakeland fells that will enchant visitors. It's well equipped, beautifully decorated and ideally placed for enjoying everything that this area of the Lake District has to offer.

The cottage lies equidistant between Cockermouth and Keswick, two much loved Lakeland towns with so much to offer. Cockermouth is a charming Georgian town with independent shops, cafe's, restaurants and a rich literary history being Wordsworth's birthplace. Why not spend the day there and view Wordsworth's childhood home then take a tour and tasting at Jenning's Brewery? Keswick is the adventure capital of the Lakes with so many outdoor activities on offer that a week will scarcely be enough time to fit everything in. For the less adventurous among you it is set on picturesque Derwentwater where you can catch one of the stately launches which are a relaxing way to take in the magnificent views. Alternatively you could take in a play or concert at the beautifully situated Theatre by the Lake.

Then again you could just make use of the immediate surroundings of Little Orchard. There is fell walking and cycling aplenty to enjoy here with Bassenthwaite's beautiful lakeside not far away and for the more energetic souls then you can ascend to mighty Skiddaw from the door. There's also a fabulous whiskey distillery, an indulgent spa and a Wildlife park all within an easy two-mile walk. That said, if you'd rather just pour a glass of wine and sit out on the terrace soaking in that magnificent view we won't hold it against you!
