Providing welcoming accommodation for four, this property offers stunning Lake District views and features exposed wooden beams, a picturesque courtyard garden and a warming wood burner.

A short drive from the village of Buttermere and close to Crummock Water, this cottage enjoys an enviable position surrounded by magnificent countryside. It’s a stone-fronted former barn offering characterful accommodation for up to four people. Inside is a charming, open-plan living-dining-kitchen area with a wood burning stove and original wooden beams. Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms, a king and a double, and the family bathroom which has a shower over the bath. Outside is a pretty garden with a picnic bench for al fresco dining. There's also parking for two cars in the courtyard in front of the cottage.

The Buttermere Valley is a haven for walkers; from days out on the high fells to lower-level woodland rambles and lakeside strolls, there's something for everyone. Experienced hikers can enjoy a long day out on the nearby fell tops, tackling Robinson before continuing onwards over Dale Head, Maiden Moor and Catbells. Explore the woods and tarn at nearby Cogra Moss or walk from the cottage to Buttermere village where you treat yourselves to delicious homemade cakes and ice cream at Syke Farm Tea Room. With Crummock Water, Buttermere and Loweswater all within easy reach, a lakeside picnic is a must, and the well prepared can also wild swim.

A scenic 30-minute drive will bring you to the bustling market town of Keswick. There is a good selection of outdoor and independent shops, perfect for indulging in a spot of retail therapy, and a great choice of different eateries to try out. For an evening out, take in a performance at the town's renowned Theatre by the Lake or watch a film at the family-owned Alhambra Cinema. Cockermouth, a charming Georgian market town and the childhood home of William Wordsworth, is a 20-minute drive in the other direction and is certainly worth a visit. Families will love a day trip to the Lake District Wildlife Park at nearby Bassenthwaite, whilst adults can enjoy a tour and tasting at the popular Lakes Distillery near Setmurthy.

Inside this Lakeland stone cottage is a welcoming, open-plan living-dining-kitchen area; with beautiful wooden beams, this room is full of charm and character. The two-seater sofa and two inviting armchairs are positioned in front of the wood burning stove and there's also a TV in here, making it a perfect space for cosy evenings in. The kitchen area sits snugly in the corner of the room and has an electric oven and separate hob, built-in microwave and fridge-freezer. Next to the kitchen is the dining table, making this a great social space, perfect for convivial mealtimes whilst catching up on the day's events.

The stairs lead from the dining area up to the first floor, where you'll find the two bedrooms and bathroom.

The first bedroom you come to on the half landing is the lovely double bedroom. A cosy room with a vaulted ceiling and a feature low window that was once the top of the former barn doors. There's also a wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage too. The next room up the remaining stairs is the family bathroom. With a WC, washbasin and electric shower over the bath, you can either indulge in a long soak in the tub or reinvigorate muscles tired from walking in the shower. Last but not least, at the end of the landing is the master bedroom. With a king-size bed, original wooden beams and quirky cottage-style windows, this really is a wonderful room, full of charm and character. A quaint dressing table and stool are positioned under the rooflight, there are useful hooks on the back of the latch door, and the bedside tables have handy drawers for storage.

To the side and rear of the cottage is a delightful garden. A paved path weaves its way past pretty borders to a picnic table. With wonderful views of the surrounding fells, it's a fantastic spot for al fresco dining with a stunning backdrop.

There is also parking for two cars in the courtyard in front of the cottage.

We had a good stay this year. The heating worked, the water was running and there were no leaks and the path has been re-done. The cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival and remained that way in spite of two named storms. Thank you.

Fabulous location for walking. Really comfortable stay and the washing machine/ drying machine was very useful. Two great pubs for cycling to or walking to nearby: The Wheatsheaf Inn at Lorton and the Kirkstile Inn near Loweswater. Lovely cottage in a wonderful location - close to the lake, a walk from Kilrstile Inn and a short drive to Buttermere. We had a wonderful stay. The garden next door has a better view/better taken care of garden, so perhaps some improvements could be done in this area, but otherwise the accommodation was well equipped, quiet, clean and cosy. This was our second visit same time of year. This small cottage has been tastefully converted and is in a wonderful location. Walks from the door up fells or down to the lake. A quick drive to Buttermere and Loweswater, and to the local shop in Lorton. This cottage is ideal for two but the tiny, but well equipped kitchen/dner is pretty tight if theRead morere are four. A problem with the heating and hot water was rectified on the day.. thanks. We would stay here again. Hide

We had an issue with the central heating on arrival however the Sally's Cottages rep resolved the problem within a couple of hours with temporary heating and had the central heating fixed the next day. Well done Andrew for the prompt and professional customer service.

Beautiful location and a lovely cottage. A wee bit dark inside with small windows and not much of a view of the surroundings from within the cottage. Well kept, well furnished and equipped. Beds a bit hard and plenty of opportunity to bang your head on low beams if youre tall. These are minor niggles though and we would definitely stay again.

We had a wonderful week here and were able to do so many walks from the house. The weather helped as well! The house has everything you need including a washing machine (info not on website) . It is a quirky little cottage. The location was perfect so quiet but plenty of walking options from the house...to the Lake or the fells
