A traditional, two-storey cottage, with a bright, inviting interior, set in the market town of Cockermouth, yet also perfect for days out and long walks in the Lakes.

Enjoying a charming courtyard setting, this cottage is a wonderful retreat for a couple and one dog. The open-plan living/dining room is super stylish and the separate modern kitchen will no doubt impress the chef de jour! Upstairs is the handy shower room and spacious bedroom. Full of character with its vaulted ceiling and feature beams, it's the perfect mix of modern comfort and period charm. Part of the bedroom but tucked around a corner, the snug area is a cosy little den just perfect for relaxing.

Though tucked away, this cottage is just a stone's throw from the centre of Cockermouth. With a great selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs, Cockermouth has plenty to delight and entertain. The famous Jennings Brewery, a Cockermouth institution, sits proudly by the river; offering regular tours - and tastings! - and a great shop, it's a must for any real ale fans. From quiet riverside ambles to longer walks out into the surrounding countryside, there's a great choice of walking available straight from the front door.

If you do fancy exploring slightly further afield, ever popular Keswick is an easy 15-minute drive away. Take a ride on the launch and enjoy a cruise around Derwentwater or set off on foot along the lake shore path. From Keswick avid fell walkers can tackle Latrigg, Catbells and Walla Crag to name but a few of Alfred Wainwright's favourites. Why not head west from Cockermouth to explore the picturesque Solway Coast? Stroll along the promenade at Silloth or visit Whitehaven harbour to learn about the area's maritime history.

Hidden behind a traditional latch door, you'll find this cute and characterful cottage. The charming courtyard is a welcome sight upon arrival; with its wooden bench and potted decorative plants, it's the perfect place for a relaxing few minutes before heading inside this gem of a cottage.

There's a handy porch area by the front door, ideal for drying wet coats and boots after a day out exploring. The living/dining room is cool and stylish yet still cosy, comfortable and characterful. The exposed stone work on the feature wall, quirky shelves and wooden beams are all nods to cottage's Georgian heritage. At the back of the cottage is the sleek, modern kitchen and utility area. Well equipped with everything that you'd need for a self-catering holiday there's a gas oven and hob, integrated fridge, useful dishwasher, handy washing machine, as well as the requisite kettle, toaster and microwave. Enjoy your morning coffee whilst perched at the breakfast bar, the perfect place to plan your day's adventures.

Head up the stairs to find the useful shower room and fantastic bedroom. Wonderfully spacious and full of character thanks to its vaulted ceiling and original beams, this really is an amazing room for some real relaxation. Off the main part of the bedroom, tucked around a corner, you'll find the bonus snug area with a single bed. A wall-mounted TV means its the perfect spot to have an early night watching your favourite programmes.

As well as the enclosed front courtyard, guests will also have access to a patio area to the rear of the cottage just off the kitchen. This rear patio area is part of the owners garden.

A lovely "private" cottage in the midst of pleasant, centrally located small town, easy access to a number of routes in and out of Cockermouth and The North Lakes, the Lake District as a whole and also the opportunity to visit Hadrian's Wall and the Roman excavations which are a little over an hour away. Pros: Lovely clean cottage in a great location. Ideal for exploring northern lakes Very near The Bitter End pub which serves great food and beers. Cons: Bed, bedding and seating in lounge were uncomfortable and poor quality compared to other cottages weve stayed in.

The Cottage was perfect. Although this was a work trip I was there for fours weeks, so weekends to myself. I found it a great place to relax and tucked away, yet only a short distance from Shops and a handy Pub"

A nice clean property in a good location for visiting the lake district and beyond. Parking can be an issue but we managed to work around it. Cockermouth itself is a lovely small town don't miss out on the riverside walk past the castle and the brewery. There are also a couple of reasonable eateries within walking distance of the cottage.

Very cosy and comfortable cottage in a central location, it was very clean and well-equipped, although we tended to eat out at midday rather than cook. The Swan pub nearby was also worth a visit.

Lovely, comfortable cottage, in a good location for town and some good pubs and restaurants. (Bitter End pub and Spice Club were great). Parking is most likely to be in nearby car park as space outside cottage very limited and rarely vacant.
