Conveniently located just a stone's throw from the centre of Keswick is Johns Cottage, a lovely 2 bedroom 2 bathroom cottage. On the ground floor you'll find the kitchen-diner and bright sun room, along with the twin bedroom (which can be made up as a king on request) and family bathroom. The spacious living room is on the first floor, as is the double bedroom and modern shower room. As well as a patio garden, Johns Cottage also has parking for 2 cars, a real bonus so close to the centre of Keswick.
Why not leave the car where it is and head out on foot to explore? There's plenty on offer just a walk away. Take in a performance at the renowned Theatre by the Lake or catch a film at the Alhambra cinema, just a hop, skip and a jump from the cottage. Walk through the town to Derwentwater, hire a canoe or rowing boat to enjoy the water from a different perspective before finding a peaceful spot for a picnic lunch. Test your mind at the quirky Puzzling Place or treat yourself to some retail therapy in the independent and outdoor shops in the town centre.
Keswick is a haven for walkers with a great choice of routes on offer straight from the front door. Head up local fell Latrigg for stunning views over the town. The well equipped can continue onwards and upwards onto Skiddaw, England's fourth highest mountain. Head to nearby Whinlatter Forest where you can explore the many woodland trails on foot or two-wheels. Adrenaline junkies will love the Go Ape High Ropes course, or why not walk an alpaca for something a little bit different?! Take a scenic drive over Newlands Pass down into Buttermere for a peaceful lakeside picnic or walk the Buttermere fells with Haystacks at the southern end – Wainright’s favourite fell.
