Cottage was in a great location for the lakes and beaches, well equipped and clean. The scenery was breathtaking. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and the garden was secure for the dog. Hosts were really welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed watching the soprano bats head out each evening! and wandering through the wood down to the river. We would love to return as there is so much we didn’t get to see/do.

Hi Deborah, how fantastic to hear that you had such a wonderful holiday - and you saw the bats too, how exciting! Here's to return visits and future explorations!

Extremely spacious accommodation with a good level of equipment, even if in an esoteric mix of styles, and it made us very comfortable. Ideal for a "3 generations" holiday. We were made very welcome by David, and his greeting gifts were much appreciated. Weather was not conducive to the fullest use of the garden during our week, but we enjoyed watching the garden birds just outside the window and found plenty in range to visit, do and walk. Wastwater is close by and beautiful (handy for paddleboarding) and the beach is nearby as well and excellent for dog-walking. Very helpful to have an enclosed garden and adjacent woodland for the dogs and it was always a bonus to wave the Soprano Pipistrelles off on their nightly hunting. Had a lovely break!

Hi Roger, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It sounds like you had a wonderful relaxing break. The location is perfect for heading out exploring isn't it? I'm glad you enjoyed getting out and about despite some less than perfect weather. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

Fantastic location, perfect for trekking around Wast Water, Wasdale Head and Scafell Pike.
Large spacious bedrooms, cosy private garden, comfortable beds, and two spacious and well equipped washrooms. Large living room, great for relaxing after a days trekking.
Extremely friendly host, who makes sure everything is ok for you, but also respects your privacy.
Well equipped kitchen, spacious driveway, fantastic local italian restaurant (The Wild Olive - we highly highly recomend!), also you are only 5 minute walk to the local pub.
We would definitely visit again, should we return to that area for future hikes.
