Beautiful cottage in a lovely peaceful area of the lakes. The autumn colours were a picture.
The only disappointment was that the local pub was not open for food and only a couple of nights for drinks seemingly through to February 2020. However we can thoroughly recommend the Queens Head and the Punchbowl Inn both at Askham village, also the restaurant / tearoom at Lowther Castle is well worth a visit (Scones to die for!) Lots of lovely walks in the area, to keep the dog happy would definitely visit this area again.

Hi Sue, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break, it's a real home from home isn't it? And the location is idyllic. I'm glad you enjoyed some nice meals out, it's always good to let someone else do the cooking for a change when you're on holiday.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

I stayed at Iona Cottage in Bampton Grange 13th to 20th September. The location is rural with stunning scenery, but only 4 miles from Shap and the M6. We had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday just enjoying the beautiful countryside and nearby lakes. The cottage was vey clean and tidy and well equipped for our stay. The garden was beautiful and enclosed so we were able to bring our dog. This is a perfect cottage for a quiet getaway and a great base for exploring the lakes. You'll love it here!
