The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable. It’s slightly remote with some narrow roads to access it for the last 10mins of the drive. The tree house is in need of some TLC as one of the floorboards is loose. It has a big and well maintained garden and ample parking. We totally loved the cottage.

On arrival the house hadn’t been cleaned, which was disappointing but we were well impressed by Sally’s prompt response, sending a cleaner the following day. They were also very helpful on the phone when we couldn’t find our accommodation on the first night, and it was good to know that the phones are manned after core hours.

The location of the cottage was as described, lovely and fairly remote.it was very clean and fairly well equipped. We had no problem with either the neighbours or the plumbing, just read the instructions before you arrive. Previous holiday makers had complained about the markings on the cooker having been rubbed off. On our arrival a laminated sheet was left which had all the details you needed. We had a problem with the heating not coming on as the cottage was chilly in the morning and evening but after reporting it to Sally’s cottages an engineer was sent out the same day to fix. However I would mention that although in the information folder in the cottage is says there are instructions for the heating, there aren’t any.
Just a note to others, both the pubs in the local villages are still not open and we were told by locals that they were closed for good, but there is a lovely pub in Askem which serves good food and is dog friendly. It wasn’t a problem for us as we chose an out of the way place to stay in and ate out and about visiting the local area.
We have had a lovely holiday and would recommend Iona cottage for a really get away from it all holiday.

We had a wonderful mid week stay at Iona Cottage with our two children. The cottage itself was clean and spacious with lots of charming features. The kids absolutely loved the huge garden and games room. We were lucky to have sunshine and ate out in the garden every evening surrounded by beautiful countryside, then the kids played in the stream which was just over the road. It was idyllic!
We had a day trip to Lowther Castle (which got 10/10 from the kids), a walk up to Aire Force Waterfall then down to Ullswater Lake, and a wander around Keswick. We could have stayed longer and done much more so maybe we'll be back one day.
The only niggle was that it's impossible to tell what the settings are on the oven, which I know has been mentioned in past reviews.

Hi Kayt, thank you for taking the time to write a review. It sounds like you had a fabulous break! It's the perfect place to kick back and relax isn't it? And what a bonus to have such great weather! I'm glad the kids had a great time, Lowther Castle is a fab day out isn't it? The Lost Castle is brilliant for kids.
Thanks for letting me know about the problem with the oven, the owner has now provided an annotated diagram and description for guests to use.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
