Grasmere is a charming village and a wonderful place for a holiday. Once home to Lakes poet William Wordsworth, you'll soon see why he described his home as 'the loveliest spot that man hath ever found'. Spend a morning wondering around the local shops and galleries or visit Wordsworth's former home at Dove Cottage to learn more about his life and work. Grasmere is surrounded by stunning scenery and the area offers fantastic walking opportunities. Explore the small National Trust woodland just around the corner from the cottage, take a scenic walk around the lake or venture up to picturesque Easedale Tarn. For a longer day out on the fell tops, head up Steel Fell and Helm Crag.
Head south to Ambleside and bustling Bowness where you can spend a day at, in or on Lake Windermere. Enjoy a peaceful lakeside picnic, wild swim, hire a boat or hop aboard one of the popular cruisers for a tour round the water in style. Why not take the ferry from Bowness across to Hawkshead, another delightful Lakes village that once home to Beatrix Potter. A scenic 20 minute drive north will bring you to Keswick. The adventure capital of the North Lakes, it's the perfect spot for adrenaline junkies! Whatever you decide to do during your stay, the cottage will be a welcome home from home to retreat to.
The property is unable to accept children aged 7 years and under, including infants. The stairs up to the first floor are open tread and may not be considered suitable for younger children.
Leave coats and boots in the spacious hallway before continuing through to the living-dining room, a beautiful bright room with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside from the dual aspect windows. The 2-seater sofa and two armchairs are positioned around the electric fire, perfect for cosy evenings in. For entertainment there's a Smart TV, or simply relax with a good book - if you can take your eyes away from the view of course! The wooden dining table is a great spot for catching up on the day's events or for planning tomorrow's. The sleek modern kitchen is well equipped and the chefs in the group are sure to love cooking in here. In the kitchen you'll find an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, handy microwave and a dishwasher so there'll be no need to fight over who has to do the washing up! There's also a useful washing machine should you need to make use of this during your stay.
Also on the ground floor are the cottage's two bathrooms. First up is the great family bathroom, which has a bath with shower over, and there's also a great modern shower room with its own WC, wash basin and shower cubicle. All tastes are catered for here, whether you prefer a long soak in the tub or a reinvigorating shower.
Up the open tread stairs from the living area to the first floor. Up here you'll find the 2 beautiful bedrooms. First up is the king-size room; a lovely light bedroom with stunning views over the surrounding fields and fells from its dual aspect windows. There's also a handy solid wood wardrobe for storage. The second bedroom is no less lovely. In this cosy room you'll find a double bed, dressing table and useful clothes rail. This bedroom also comes complete with its own en-suite WC, a very handy addition.
As well as private parking for 1 car (you may be able to fit 2 small cars in the space depending on their size), outside the cottage you'll find a delightful small patio area.
