As a family we really enjoy our stay. It was a beautiful little cottage, that was packed with character, such as log burners, exposed beams, old fashioned clocks and quirky wooden doors. The cottage was Well equipped with lots of books, dvds, board games and local maps.
We were happy to pay for our 2dogs, however we found paying double the price for four nights was a bit excessive.
We would recommend this cottage for couples and small families, we would love to stay there again.

A beautiful, cosy cottage. Lovely location although there are no amenities in the village, i.e. shop, pub etc so you have to drive elsewhere for those. The cottage is very well equipped, comfy bed and sofas, and log fires! Bit disappointing that a dog friendly cottage has restrictions on them (not on furniture or in bedrooms). Garden isn’t secure so they couldn’t be let out on their own. Great walks nearby and the scenery is breathtaking. A wonderful first visit to the area and we will return again as soon as possible! Oh and the welcome prosecco and shortbread were a lovely surprise, thank you!

Hi Karen, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break. It's a lovely place to relax and recharge the batteries isn't it? And the location is stunning, I'm glad you enjoyed getting out for some good walks. I hope you can come back for some more adventures in the Lakes soon.

Our stay was very pleasant at Hillcrest. Kirkland is a quiet village which makes it very peaceful. The interior of the cottage is lovely, we particularly liked the exposed timber throughout the cottage. The kitchen was absolutely pretty great; we made several meals without much trouble. Two things to note: The wood burning stoves around the house didn't seem to want to stay alight. This was either incompetence on our part, or the wood was too large and possibly the wrong type. The other thing was that 4G signal in the house is extremely poor or non-existent, but the WiFi works perfectly, so not really a problem. Overall, a beautiful and comfortable cottage for a getaway in the Lakes.
