Hillcrest Cottage is a charming cottage in Kirkland near Ennerdale full of beautiful original features and character. The cottage is dog friendly and sleeps 3/4 people making it ideal for couples or families to enjoy this quiet western corner of the Lake District.
The Cottage sleeps 3 guests in 2 bedrooms, and a 4th guest can be accommodated on either a spare bed in the single room, or a sofa bed. The cottage has period features throughout and has cosy woodburners in the two main living rooms and the master bedroom. You will also find oak ceiling beams and a stunning conservatory overlooking the landscaped garden. There are rural views of the countryside towards the Ennerdale fells.
Ennerdale is one of the quietest and most remote valleys in the Lake District. The long deep lake provides a habitat for several rare species. Tall mountains tower over the lake whilst the head of the valley is forested and home to many species including deer, badgers, highland cattle and red squirrels. Kirkland is perfectly located for exploring Ennerdale whilst remaining within easy driving distance of other Lake District highlights including Cockermouth, Loweswater, Buttermere and the Cumbrian coastline. There are plenty of family friendly attractions including the Lake District Wildlife Park near Bassenthwaite, an aquarium in Maryport, Go Ape at Whinlatter and the Ravenglass railway in Eskdale.
