Highgate Close is a spacious former farmhouse in a peaceful rural location near Troutbeck with beautiful views across the valley to the fells beyond; Blencathra takes pride of place but the Newlands fells crowding the horizon to the west also jostle for attention. Comfortably sleeping 8 people in 4 bedrooms Highgate Close also has plenty of space downstairs with 2 living areas, a large well designed kitchen and a dining table fit for a banquet. The main bathroom upstairs has a bath and separate shower and there is also a shower room downstairs, ideal for a larger group. The enclosed garden is west facing and enjoys the evening sun, perfect for relaxing with a glass or two and watching the sunset over the fells in summer. In winter an evening in front of the log burner may be more appealing, curl up with a good book and soak up the ambience of this lovely house. Highgate Close is large enough to accommodate extended family groups or two families travelling together but cosy enough that a smaller group would also feel quite at home.

Located on a 120 acre working farm Highgate Close will get you away from it all but with the A66 only 2 miles away the whole northern Lake District is still within easy reach. This is an amazing location which is a quiet oasis surrounded by well known tourist hotspots, even on a bank holiday it will be peaceful here whilst the crowds enjoy Keswick, Pooley Bridge and Glenridding, just a few miles away. Footpaths lead off across the farmland outside the house and you can walk over to Blencathra or up to Clough Head and Matterdale Common via the old coach road too. Cyclists will be spoilt for choice with both quiet on road and off road routes and there are a selection of pubs within a few miles to target as a lunch stop on a walk or cycle ride.

The northern Lake District offers a host of attractions and most of these are just a short drive away. Walkers have numerous options even just in walking the fells that can be seen from Highgate Close!  Two of the Lakeland 3000's are close by: Skiddaw towers over Keswick offering views ranging from the fells to Scotland and the coast plus Helvellyn which can be tackled via Striding Edge or the less challenging routes up the east side. For those looking for less strenuous options there are many lake shore and woodland walks to choose from or visit enigmatic Castlerigg stone circle. Ullswater is home of Wordsworth's famous daffodils which you can hunt out in the spring but it is well worth a visit at any time of year. Take a short walk to Aira Force, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country and can be viewed from bridges top and bottom or hitch a ride of one of the historic steamers plying the full length of the lake. Keswick is the hub of the Northern Lake District, it is a vibrant town where there is always something to see and do. Take in a show at the Theatre by the Lake, check out some of the independent shops or try something new and join one of the many companies offering a wide range of adventurous activities on the surrounding lakes and fells.

Highgate Close is that perfect and sought after mix of peaceful and away from it all location yet within easy reach of everything the area has to offer. Spacious enough to handle a large family group in comfort yet cosy and homely; spend a week or two relaxing here and it will be a holiday full of wonderful memories.
