This traditional farmhouse occupies a prime hillside location above the idyllic vale of Lorton. Built in 1741, it is part of the farm where the Jennings brothers first began their famous brewery using water direct from the fells.

The layout of bedrooms makes this a great choice for friends holidaying together or a growing active family. There is secure space for storing bikes, and superb walking and cycling straight from the door. Fantastic peaks including Hopegill Head, Grisedale Pike and Grasmoor can all be walked from the farmhouse. Off road cycling in Whinlatter Forest is just over a mile away, catering for serious mountain bikers and family cyclists. There are two traditional wooden hot tubs in the grounds, offering stunning views of the Lorton Valley.

In the village of Lorton you will find the lovely Wheatsheaf pub, which has a good menu and Fresh Fish Fridays. You can walk to the village in around 15 minutes. There is a very well stocked village shop selling all the essentials you might need and much more, just in case you don’t fancy venturing into Keswick or Cockermouth for supermarkets.

The Farmhouse is linked to High Swinside Cottage by a lockable connecting door, allowing you to sleep an extra two people with their own private space. A third property, High Swinside Cottage, can also be let. All three cottages booked together can provide accommodation for up to 17 guests.  Please enquire at the time of booking.
