East Kilbride Scy Family
- We loved the peace and quiet at High Holme. A stunning location way out in the countryside. There was an abundance of space for my large family both inside and outside the house.
The kitchen was immaculately clean and had enough equipment to host a village fete! Everything from can openers to roasting tins. We were delighted to discover a basket of tea, coffee, bread, jams, biscuits and milk in the fridge. There were dish washer tablets, dish liquid, bin bags, kitchen roll and sponges etc in the cupboard. Every bathroom had hand wash and ample toilet rolls.
The house had an abundance of dvds, books, cds, board games and a pool table, dart board and PlayStation in the games room.
Garden was well tended. Hot tub was cleaned and so wasn’t hot ready for use on our first night. Not an issue for us.
However, we found that the cleanliness was somewhat lacking. All the window ledges were thick with dust and multiple dead insects that had clearly been there for an extended period of time. The window shelves on the stair landing were particularly dirty, note dirty not dusty. Multiple cobwebs with and without residents festooned the house, including the bridging unit in the master bedroom. The master bedroom, and to a lesser extent the triple room, smelled musty and damp. There was some damp and mould in parts of the master bedroom. Some of the spare bedding would benefit from being replaced or washed. Some of the beds were wobbly and mattresses were showing their age. The shower cabinet floors and bath were very, very slippery. Having two elderly people and a young child posed a big safety issue for me so I purchased some bath mats for our use whilst there. In the same vein, the elderly folk and 18month old had to be constantly supervised in the garden which was spread over several layers with steep stairs and walls which could be walked off of. The windows were running with condensation in the morning and evening.
In summary, despite the issues we had, we enjoyed our stay at High Holme and would happily visit again in the future.

Hi Gerry, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to kick back and relax isn't it?
I'm so sorry to hear that some of the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch when you arrived. I really appreciate you bringing it to my attention, I'll make sure it's addressed with the cleaners. Thank you for your other feedback and suggestions for improvement too, I'll make sure we look into everything you've highlighted.
I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
