Hewthwaite hall is situated in a wonderful position within easy reach of many of the Lakes attractions. The house was lovely and warm and we enjoyed a log fire every evening. We loved cooking on the Aga and the kitchen is very well equipped. We would hope to return.

Hello Josie, Thank you for your lovely feedback. It's a real home from home isn't it? You couldn't have picked a better location for exploring the Lakes. The log fire sounds wonderful - perfect for a relaxing evening. You just can't beat an Aga for superior cooking - I hope you enjoyed making some wonderful dishes. Here's to the next holiday in the Lakes!

Fabulous cottage (or should I say manor house!) with bags of character. We had a great week cooking in the spacious and well equipped country kitchen and reading books by the fires as well as doing some cracking walks in the fells.

We loved our stay. It’s a wonderful old building with lots of original features. We particularly enjoyed using the Aga, having a real fire in the evenings, sleeping in the four-poster bed and sitting outside in the garden watching the sheep in the field behind the house. We felt like Lord and Lady of the Manor!

The house is very rural with just a couple of farm houses on the other side of the road and the farm yard itself next door. Perfect if you want peace and quiet and like to see a proper ‘dark sky’ at night. The town of Cockermouth is a 5 minute drive away.

The house was fully equipped with everything we could need and there is plenty of parking next to the house at the top of the short drive.

The only thing I would mention is that, due to the house’s age, the main stairs have step treads that are uneven in height and there are steps into the bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. If you have a walking impairment extra care is necessary.

All in all a wonderful stay and definitely one of the top places we have stayed in.

I'm delighted that you enjoyed such a wonderful holiday, your Lordship - you really can't beat a bit of luxury, can you? And how fabulous is Cockermouth? So great to hear you had so much fun exploring it all!
