This cosy property is ideal for couples and small groups keen to experience beautiful lake Windermere with its chocolate-box villages, walking routes and water sports opportunities.

Compact and beautifully formed, this is one of four properties created from a traditional Lakeland stone barn to form a small complex of cottages on a farm. Located in a rural position amongst woods and fields on the outskirts of Bowness-on-Windermere it is perfectly located for exploring the local area. The property is all on the ground floor, it sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has a bright living/dining area with a cosy open fire and views over the shared gardens to the fields beyond. Outside, the small patio with a table and four chairs enjoys the same lovely views over the shared grass area to the front of the property and there is also a BBQ area, ideal for summer evenings. Cosy, comfortable, practical and beautifully finished, this is a lovely little base from which to make the most of this stunning area.

The cottage can be found tucked away in quiet countryside just a mile outside the centre of Bowness combining easy access to all the amenities of Bowness and Windermere with a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of a busy day. With a wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as great access to the lake shore, popular Bowness is the bustling gateway to Windermere lake and all the attractions surrounding it. Regular steamer services operate all year round providing easy, hassle free access to Ambleside, Wray, Lakeside and Brockhole as well as providing opportunities for stunning linear lake shore walks too.

There are icturesque and peaceful walks right from the door as well as good access by bus or car to more challenging walks over the local fells. Cyclists can explore a great variety of local on or off-road routes depending on the level of challenge required. Bowness is very family friendly with short lakeshore strolls, the opportunity to meet the cast of Beatrix Potter’s books at Beatrix Potter World and not far away the chance of endless adventure opportunities at Fell Foot Park or Brockhole with formal and informal play areas and activities to get children into the wild. Bowness and Windermere are well connected to the rest of the area by boat, bus and car so the whole area is yours to explore. Visit wildlife rich Morecombe Bay, shop in the attractive market town of Kendal or follow Wordsworth to Grasmere, the options are endless.

Entering the cottage you come into a bright hallway with the bedrooms off to the right and the living/dining area on your left behind a glazed partition. The living/dining area is cheerful and bright with two sets of French doors opening out onto the patio area at the front. Tucked Against the glazed partition to the left is the dining table for four enjoying the rural views out to the gardens. The cosy sitting area has a two-seater sofa and two armchairs gathered around an open fireplace with slate hearth, just perfect for relaxing evenings in. For added entertainment there is a Freeview TV and DVD plus a Bluetooth music system. Shelves beside the fireplace offer a selection of books and DVD’s to browse and the lovely rural views of the dry-stone wall sheltered garden enhance the character and charm to be enjoyed here.

Double doors divide the kitchen from the living area so it can be open plan or closed off depending on preference. The modern farmhouse style kitchen has fitted units around three sides so everything is close at hand and a pleasure to use. All the usual mod cons are included: washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with ice box, electric oven, four-slice toaster and ceramic hob. The pretty tiled splashback adds a touch of colour behind the ample worktop space and kitchen is equipped with everything you could need.

The spacious family bathroom is at the end of the hall. Modern, bright, smart and practical the bath has a shower over and there is a heated towel radiator.

Both bedrooms open off the hallway, at the front is the light bunk bedroom with full-sized bunk beds, chest of drawers and built in wardrobe. The window looks over the grassy garden to the front of the cottage. The other bedroom is at the back of the cottage with a window looking out onto a peaceful view of trees. The double bed has bedside tables and a large built in cupboard provides plenty of storage with shelves and hanging space. There is also a chair and handy coat hooks on the wall.

Outside is a small patio area with table and four chairs, shared lawned garden and a BBQ area with rural views. The walled car parking area is close by with access to a small orchard area for short morning or evening strolls to enjoy the peace and quietly watch the local wildlife.

Really nice modern cottage kitted out with a range of the equipment one might for a week or two away. Lovely peaceful setting and about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. One or two walks can be done directly from the cottage. Has its own garden table plus barbecue facilities provided.

Location is unbelievable. Feels totally out on its own in the countryside, yet youre less than a mile from Bowness.

Location was superb, very quiet and easy walk down Into Bowness with all amenities. Definitely need to follow the directions carefully to the property but they are clear. Really enjoyed our stay.

Comfy with good facilities. Situated 15 mins walk from Bowness (uphill). Might not be suitable for people with mobility problems, though fine for us as we are regular walkers albeit in our seventies!

Lovely stay. Great location for access to Bowness however very steep and narrow driveway to cottage. Great parking, cosy cottage, a little impersonal with signage and lighting. However, would use again.

Great space with everything you need for a little home away from home, really close to the tourist centre of Bowness. The cottage is up a steep road from the village though, which is at times very narrow so we weren't able to walk all the way from the cottage to the amenities with our pram safely. Without the pram and with some fitness you would beRead more fine though! Hide
