This accommodation forms part of a delightful barn conversion in the heart of of the picturesque Eden Valley. The former milking parlour has been tastefully and sympathetically converted whilst retaining original features. The living area is all on one level with wide doorways, and a wet room. The light airy bedroom comfortably sleeps two people in a king-size bed.
The property enjoys both morning and evening sun and has open views across the gardens towards the Pennines. The peaceful countryside location is in the heart of the Eden Valley yet only a short distance from Penrith, Ullswater and the North Lakes. The well-equipped cottage is surrounded by well maintained gardens and is set around a cobbled courtyard shared with other holiday cottages.
From this elevated position between Kirkoswald and Renwick you can enjoy uninterrupted views across tranquil pastures and woodlands towards the hills of the Lake District and Pennines. Howscales was originally built as a working farm during the middle of the 17th century. All the buildings here are constructed using the local red Lazonby Sandstone, both for the walls and the traditional sandstone tiled roofs. This cottage is an ideal base for enjoying all that the Eden Valley has to offer along with easy access to the Lakes, Pennines and Hadrian’s Wall.
The open-plan living area is light and spacious, enjoying both morning and evening sun with beautiful views over the garden and towards the Renwick and Alston fells. The bedroom contains a king-size bed and there is a wet room-style bathroom with a spacious walk-in shower. To reduce single-use plastic usage, we no longer provide complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms. Instead we provide The Bath House hand wash and hand cream that we can refill.
The kitchen has recently been refurbished and features a new gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher and beautiful new wooden floor. An under counter fridge and microwave are also available. A washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer are located in a shared utility/laundry room.
The sitting room has a multifuel wood burner (initial supply of fuel provided). There is also a Smart TV with DVD. A welcome pack of tea, coffee, biscuits and milk will be in the cottage on arrival.
The lovely gardens are shared with the other cottages on site but there are plentiful quiet corners with seating for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine or just to enjoy the views and the birdsong. Parking is just a few yards from the cottage.
For larger groups, this cottage can be let alongside three other cottages on site which sleep six, four and three further guests.
