General Description

The Hayloft is a small but perfectly formed property for 2 people converted from part of a former pub built in 1816. Between the parking space and the front door is the first clue to the history of this building, an original stone mounting block beside the path. The solid wooden front door leads straight into the kitchen/dining/living room, with pegs for hanging coats and boots by the door on a tiled floor.

The kitchen units are arranged along the far wall, kitted out with everything you need for eating in and with a lovely view over the fields to the fells beyond to enjoy whilst you wash up afterwards. The oven and hob are electric and there is also a microwave, the fridge has an ice box so you'll have room for ice for a G&T or a tub of ice cream for a treat. Relax on the sofa against the opposite wall with your chosen treat and there is a TV mounted on the wall, DVD player and MP3 docking station for entertainment. The dining table and chairs are at the side of the room and of interest is the painting on the wall of the house which was handed down by a previous owner of the property.

To the right of the main living room is a door leading onto a tiled hallway with more storage and hanging space plus a small room with WC and washbasin. The carpeted stairs lead up and round to the en suite bedroom.

The bedroom is a lovely light characterful room with vaulted ceiling, dual aspect windows, exposed floorboards, stonework and beams. The bed can be set up as a king-size double or two singles whilst two large built in cupboards provide plenty of hanging space and shelving, two bedside tables with lamps complete the furniture in this spacious room. There is a handy fully tiled en suite wet room with heated towel rail for carrying out daily ablutions in style. The views from the bedroom windows are stunning, at the back a glazed door leads onto a small balcony with table and chairs to really make the most of the vista across sheep fields to Blencathra, Carrock Fell and High Pike. On the other side of the room the old hayloft door has been turned into a window and gives views across the lane to the Pennines in the distance.
