- This could have been a gem of a cottage but it was really let down by being uncared for. It was not very clean - dog hairs on sofas, some items of crockery/cookware not well washed, and the oven trays were so filthy they filled the kitchen with smoke when we turned the oven on. Added to the tired decor this just made the place feel a bit shabby. Even the welcome pack of biscuits was already opened. Worst of all, in the back bedroom it was so damp that paint was running down the walls - we reported this so hopefully will be fixed by the time the next visitors stay. Such a shame, as the smallest amount of attention would make it into a lovely place. Fortunately the open fire works very well and that helped to make it more cosy, so bring firewood! If you're a walker you'll still have a good holiday because the location is so fantastic, but that shouldn't be an excuse for poor maintenance.

Hello Marion, thank you for taking the time to write a review and emailing us your thoughts following your stay. We do take all feedback seriously and the owners have already made changes and improvements including buying a new vacuum cleaner that is better up to the task of tackling pet hair and getting the soft furnishings professionally cleaned. We are also addressing all the other points you raised and helping to support the owners and cleaners to ensure the cottage is always presented at it's best. Please be assured that had we been aware of your concerns during your stay we would have been happy to address many of the concerns at that time and helped you to have the best stay possible. I'm so pleased you still managed to enjoy your holiday, the location is just perfect if you enjoy getting out for some good walks isn't it? I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.
