Fabulous place but just a few things we missed for 6 adults, there was only 1 shower so it was a bit awkward. There were a lot of flies in the kitchen due to the hot weather and no cupboards to store food. The garden seating was old and unsteady. Fortunately we brought our own camp chairs and umbrella. I would recommend this beautiful place and would book again.

Hi Dawn, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your break at Hallgarth Barn. And wasn't the weather amazing? I'm sorry the flies were a bit of a nuisance, the hot weather seems to have brought them out in their droves!
I'll pass your feedback and suggestions for improvement on to the owners, thank you. I hope you can come back to explore more of the Lakes soon.

This was my first time at Hall Garth Barn, having walked pasted it many times and wondered what it would be like to stay. The barn and its location is beautiful and for our family of 7 its all we needed. The enclosed garden was its drawer for me, with two small children and two dogs, it was very well used. However, some other kind of outside seating like fold away chairs, would have been nice. The picnic table was not big enough for all of us and was quite scruffy and uncomfortable. Maybe replace it with a proper table and chairs to seat 8 people? Also more puzzles and games to entertain little ones, especially as it's a family holiday type of home! The kitchen lacked anywhere at all to put food. All the cabinets were filled with utensils and pots etc. We had to leave all the food out on the work tops which really isn't ideal being near to a farm in hot weather, as we experienced loads of flies! My view is that if you did away with kitchen table and put instead a free standing dresser/food cabinet, that would be much better. You don't need two sets of tables and chairs in the property. The heating and water took us a while to figure out, as it's on a hive system, and not too many people would understand that. Luckily I did, eventually! But with so many people wanting hot water, we did go without for a couple of days until we figured how to keep the hot water on perminant.
None of this would put us of coming back, but a few changes would be good, as it's not a cheap place to stay.

We were blessed with good weather for our return to the Lake District after a long time visiting other parts of the country. The location of Hallgarth Barn was ideal and even though we had a storm on the second Wednesday night and some rain early on the Thursday morning that did not affect us unduly. We had not experienced shutters before but very soon got used to them and enjoyed the novelty. We are already thinking of when we might come again.
