We booked Halecat House for a family get together. We all had very spacious bedrooms with enough bathrooms and toilets. The house is very comfortable with lots of space to relax, the kitchen is well equipped and the dishwasher was a huge bonus. The house was warm, the log fire was perfect, so we felt snug and cosy all the time. The gardens were beautiful even in October and the area is lovely for country walks, we were lucky that the Art and Craft Exhibition was on in Witherslack, this is exceptional. There is lots to see in the Lake District and many good restaurants and country pubs. The housekeeper Elaine was very efficient and helpful.
The only complaint from one guest was the lack of hanging space in the largest double bedroom...unless the wardrobe was hidden by panelling!

Hi Irene, many thanks for your comment, you really can't beat a great big house full of friends and family, can you? Witherslack is such an underexplored part of the county but is so beautiful, as you discovered! Come back and see us again soon!

Wayne, Thank you for your feedback. I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay at the magnificent Halecat House. Elaine is fabulous isn't she? I'll look into your other comments further and hope you will return to the beautiful Lakes very soon.

We had a lovely family week here with 5 adults,3kids and a dog. The house is lovely and spacious with huge rooms so we didnt feel on top of each other at any point. The rooms are well worn with old furniture so makes you feel at ease. Garden is lovely and a great big area to play in. It was a little overgrown but didnt stop us enjoying it at all. Kids, big kids and dog loved it.
If i had to pick any faults the sofas are a tad sinky in places, one double bed had my mum and dad rolling off due to strange shape of mattress and a few tshirts got holes in off the jaggy bits sticking out of some dining room chairs...but none of this stopped us having a great holiday. Would definitley recommend.
