Halecat is an elegant, late Georgian house. Situated at the head of an ancient valley, it has views to Arnside Knott and the estuary at Grange-over-Sands. This very special property is in the manor of Witherslack, which was made over to Thomas Stanley, the 1st Earl of Derby, in 1487. The Stanley family has owned the house ever since it was built in the mid-19th century and it has been lovingly looked after to preserve its unique charm.
Halecat can accommodate eight people in four bedrooms with the space to accommodate three more people if sharing the large, grand bedrooms. This makes the property an ideal location for family or group gatherings in a stunning location. The superb gardens include a fantastic lawn for kids to run around on or for an impromptu game of cricket. There are hidden areas, beautiful flowerbeds, an orchard, a listed gazebo/summer house and large patio. The recently installed biomass boiler keeps the house constantly warm so you can be sure of a cosy stay!
As part of the Witherslack Estate at the southern end of the Lake District, this is a very popular area for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. The pretty village has a shop and the Derby Arms public house serves excellent food. The shores of Lake Windermere are within a 20-minute drive and Coniston not much further away.
