Would the prospect of escaping the stresses of 21st Century life to stay at a spacious, elegant and beautifully restored historical property suit you? In which case this gorgeous wing of a country house is sure to delight. With four indulgent en-suite bedrooms, extensive secluded grounds, glorious views and more than a sprinkling of bygone era magic throughout, this is truly a holiday home for those who love the unique. Modern high spec bathrooms and appliances sit comfortably beside 1000-year-old architectural features and, while you can still access the outside world with excellent WIFI, you can also happily lose yourself in a world of undulating sandstone floors, antique furnishings and deep window seats with romantic far-reaching views.

This quiet area of Cumbria is a treat for walkers and cyclists. Haile is nestled just to the west of the Lake District National Park and you can easily access some of its most beautiful treasures nearby. The unspoiled, tranquil Ennerdale Valley is an ideal starting point for hundreds of walks - from gentle lakeside strolls to mighty mountain hikes, Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk passes close by too. You can always treat yourself afterwards at Ennerdale's Gather Café or one of its pubs! Nearer still there are quiet roads, lanes and forestry trails to explore on your bike. Why not take in the scenery on horseback aboard one of the gentle giants at Bradley’s Riding Centre? Alternatively pack a picnic and take a walk to Monks Bridge in the Calder Valley for a picturesque paddling place.

Only slightly further off there’s plenty to explore. Visit the Georgian harbour town of Whitehaven to explore its maritime history or treat yourself to an ice cream at the idyllic seaside village of St Bees. Take the charming narrow-gauge steam railway, known as the La’al Ratty, from the coast at Ravenglass to the foot of the fells in Eskdale. If you’re fit and well prepared then why not take on England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, from its most popular starting point in magnificent Wasdale? However you choose to spend your visit this cottage is a luxurious fairy-tale world which you’re sure to want to visit time and time again.

Haile Hall was commended in the 2018 awards for Sotheby's Best Restoration of a Historic House and highly commended again in the Georgian Group's Architectural Awards 2019. It has also appeared in publications such as Country Life.
