On arrival the property was unwelcoming, cold and a tatty entrance.
When we entered the property was freezing cold, dead plants throughout and tired decor fixtures and fittings.
On exploring the property there was storage cupboards filled with Junk, broken furniture and various bric a brac. There was a cellar also filled with old office furniture from its hotel days. It seemed like an abandoned hotel and unloved as well as very tired.
The furniture was old, dirty, adhoc and mismatched throughout the property.
The kitchen was very functional but industrial and again very tired.
There was only one chefs knife. The cleaning utensils, hoover and mops where dirty and not adequate for cleaning such a large house. The equipment was temperamental for washing clothes and dishes.
The WiFi didn’t work throughout our stay.
The Central heating never Worked throughout our stay. We had to report this as the water And rooms was cold. The electric wall heaters were also temperamental.
The outside furniture was very tired and in need of upgrades and repairs.
The decking stairs where dangerous on some steps which are ready to break at anytime.
There was a huge amount of bird poo on the decking area.
Some bedrooms where cosy and comfortable and some were very cold and tired.
When we changed the sheets ourselves we noticed some horrid stains on the mattresses which were obviously very old.
In essence the description and website pictures are totally misleading. I have since also been informed that my deposit is being held due to the property requiring extra cleaning. In reality we tried to maintain the property with limited resources.
This property could be amazing due to its character and location. It’s also great for big families and friends gatherings. This said it’s needs a major upgrade throughout to meet a good quality standard and value for money.

A super house. The kitchen was great for catering for a large group and the communal spaces very comfortable for us all.

It did take 24 hours to warm the house up, tho. Brr. The bedroom heaters particularly were a bit of a mystery and it took quite while for us to work out how to turn them on. Perhaps some instructions on the wall in each room?

We had lovely christmas, house is a great venue for large gathering, dinning table fabulous. Kitchen well equipped, although basics like cheese grater and garlic press would be useful. Need slippers as floors not too clean☹️. Would definitely go again.
