We stayed at Greenbank for a week and found the house to be really well equipped and extremely comfortable. The house and gardens are just lovely and Janet is a great host.
There are numerous walks from the front door and I’m pleased to say that we didn’t move the car all week.
The views from the house are amazing.
I have no hesitation in recommending Greenbank to others and we will definitely be looking to book it for a bigger family get away!
Thanks also to Janet for the Eccles cakes!

Hello Sarah, Thank you for your glowing feedback! It's a gem of a cottage, isn't it? The views are exquisite! You couldn't have picked a better location to explore the beautiful Lakes and get out and about on some great walks. Come back any time, you can be sure of a very warm welcome.

Greenbanks is in the one of the most beautiful settings in the Lake District. The house is set in a beautiful well kept garden with tables chairs and a lounger. The house is very large but we were only three couples due to COVID restrictions at the time and so can only comment on the rooms we occupied. The sitting room is fabulous - plenty of seating for us and very comfortable and the kitchen is massive and reasonably well equipped - albeit a bit industrial looking - with an aga (which we were not used to) and back up gas cooker and oven. The dining room is large and the cutlery and glasses are stored here and I should point out that there weren't enough teaspoons or tumblers for us so could be limited for a larger group. Of the three bedrooms we occupied one was particularly lovely - with a great view, its ensuite bathroom was limited though - with a short bath and no stand up shower. Room 3 was very tired looking and could do with a bit of a refurb; also there was a winter duvet in the summer which was problematic.

There was no no phone signal for us the week we stayed and the WiFi is good downstairs but limited in the bedrooms. There is only one house key - so discipline in the use of the key safe is critical. Overall though we had a lovely time and would stay at Greenbanks again.

Hi Danielle, thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your break, it's a lovely place to get away from it all isn't it? The location is stunning, just perfect if you enjoy getting out for some good walks. The kitchen is a catering kitchen, as the property used to be a B&B, we do include a photograph of this on the website, so that guests are aware of this before booking. The owner ensure that there is a gas oven available as well as the Aga, for those who are not used to operating one. The majority of our cottages have a keysafe, including Greenbank, which enables guests to leave the key securely and whoever gets back first can still access the property. I have found this the best way to organise things, as keys can be easily lost when out and about. The owner has taken your feedback on board, but is saddened that you didn't raise any of these concerns during your stay as she would have been happy to help. I hope you can plan a return visit some time, you can be sure of a warm welcome.
