Gowrie Cottage is a beautiful Victorian cottage with an idyllic setting in Eskdale. With panoramic views over Lake District fells, an acre of gardens and even an outdoor play area for children, the property is perfect for a family holiday or a break away with friends.
There are thoughtful touches throughout the house and luxury furnishings. The living room looks out onto rural scenery and has fabulous leather sofas to sink into and a wood burner. Moving into the kitchen, you'll find a traditional AGA and a lovely dining area.
After a day out fell walking, what could be better than relaxing in the property's roll top bath, or popping to the local pub just a ten minute walk away from the front door. The pub serves fresh, locally sourced food and a selection of local Lakeland ales.
Gowrie has an amazing location in the heart of Eskdale, one of the most picturesque and tranquil parts of the Lake District. You can enjoy nature, stunning walks and a truly peaceful environment all right from the door of the cottage.
The Ravenglass and Eskdale railway has a station near to the cottage if you fancy hopping on board and enjoying one of the most scenic train journeys in the UK. You can carry bikes on the train - perfect if you want to try the Eskdale valley cycleway that runs parallel to the line.
Just beyond Eskdale is Wasdale. This valley is famed for being home to the deepest English lake (Wastwater), the highest mountain (Scafell Pike) and one of the smallest churches (St Olaf’s church). You can also drive to the beautiful Cumbrian coastline within 30 minutes and enjoy the unspoilt beaches at Seascale, Ravenglass and Haverigg.
