Stay in this enviable location at the base of Place Fell with a group of friends or family. Close to Ullswater with a range of walking routes from the doorstep

This property offers perfect self-catering holiday accommodation in a stunning location in beautiful Patterdale. It forms the self-contained ground floor of a traditional Lakeland house. Situated at the end of an access only road, the cottage is in a quiet location at the foot of Place Fell and is situated on the coast to coast path. This is unrivalled walking country with the Helvellyn range, St Sunday Crag, High Street and many other thrilling walks straight from the door. Up to two dogs are allowed at this lovely Lake District property, making it equally ideal for a small family or small group of friends and their pets. It is arranged all on the ground floor, so it is also suitable for those who are less mobile.

In Patterdale there are easy low level walks along the tranquil shores of Brother's Water. The shores of Ullswater are a 15-minute walk on a low level path along the side of Place Fell. Ullswater is the second largest of the Lakeland lakes, and many think the loveliest. All manner of boats can be hired from Glenridding to enjoy on the majestic waters or you can swim, picnic, walk, fish or take a trip on Ullswater's ferries.

The accommodation is entered through large doors from the driveway into the lounge area. Here there is seating for four people around a Freeview TV/ DVD. The dining table comfortably seats four people.

The galley kitchen is small (2.6 metres long, with a working space of about 1.5 metres x 1 metre), but ingeniously incorporates all the conventional kitchen appliances needed for four people: a sink with drainer, a full-sized integrated cooker with oven and grill, microwave, refrigerator, washing machineand dishwasher. There is a small deep freezer provided in the lounge area.

The bedrooms consist of a double and a twin. All the bedding is cotton and/or synthetic filled, making it suitable for allergy sufferers. The light master bedroom has lovely views and an en-suite shower room with WC. From the twin room is a door leading to the terrace and pretty garden and offering beautiful views. The family bathroom features a bath with a shower tap fitting and a WC.

Outside, you have the exclusive use of the off-road parking area (the owners store their boat trailer here during the summer months) and the large lower garden. There is parking capacity for three cars. The lovely sloping, lawned garden has plenty of space to enjoy the views and the mature shrubs and flower beds. The sheltered terrace is provided with a table and chairs for sitting out.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 double, 1 twin
  • 2 bathrooms - 1 en-suite shower room with WC, 1 family bathroom with bath and shower tap plus WC
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine
  • TV, Freeview, DVD player

This is great accommodation with a beautiful garden, perfectly located for walking holidays. Plenty space for me and my dog. Everything was clean, there is a well equipped kitchen. The outside seating area was marvellous on sunny days. The basic niggle is that this is a converted garage (nicely done) and you can hear the people moving overhead if tRead morehey are in. Small but perfectly formed. Had a wonderful stay at Ghyll Foot. The accommodation was immaculately clean, well equipped and really cosy. It even had a stash of hot water bottles for the colder months! Great location. We started our circular walk up Helvellyn from the front door!

A beautiful 1930s cottage with loads of character and in a terrific setting amongst a typical Lake-district setting. It was comfortable and warm with good beds and bath/shower facilities. And the fells started just outside the back door!

We loved staying at Ghyll Foot. We were 3 adults and it was perfect. Very comfortable, beautifully warm and cosy (we had a few wet and windy days as usual in the Lakes) and such a lovely setting. We enjoyed our second stay at Ghyll Foot every bit as much as our first visit last year. The location is simply wonderful. It isn't large, but for us, with two dogs, it was perfectly comfortable. Its USP is having such a great selection of superb walks directly from the property, without any need to use the car.

Book through Sallys Cottages over a year ago , during which time it was taken on by Holiday cottages .Many years with Sallys so was unsure what to expect. Firstly the location was ideal for us . Tucked away with immediate access to the Fells . Cottage was smaller than we expected but no major issue. Inside was tidy so again no issue . Only minor anRead mored I mean minor thing would be that the second bedroom was dated and the garden could of done with a little work . Other than that we would return. Hide

Lovely cottage in a great location, it was spotlessly clean on our arrival. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. Plenty of walking (and climbing) to do right from the doorstep, you could really park the car and not use it again until it was time to go home. This is really a ground floor flat with unavoidable noise when any one is staying upstairs as we had for several nights and this makes it less than relaxing. Note that guests are expected to leave the property at 9 am not 10 am on the day of departure.

Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. Very clean, great facilities and warm. Something to bare in mind this is more of a flat/apartment rather than a full sized cottage. Its very small inside perfect for 2 but wouldnt want more people there. Also there is another flat above the cottage which can bring through a lot of noise.
